Simplicity, function, & clean w/ clean lines & good taste (if you like the "conservative" clean line look that is)...doesn't necessarily mean all j-spec (for you nissan peoples) or JDM parts. It's pretty much a look that won't ever get old...it may be a stock looking AE86 or a Honda with little or no body changes, suspension work, "race" style wheels...etc. Normally using quality parts that have a function and more attention to speed and handling than looks. See http://www.jtuned.com for examples.
The more extreme you go on a car the more "trendy" it is...like the monstorous body kits through the late 90's and the years there after, differant color window tint, fiberglass dashes, and molded & shaved everything, headlight conversion, etc...hell look at 1/2 the cars at NOPI, show cars have hardly changed in the last 5-8 years and it gets old, same heavy ass fiberglass bodykits, 500lbs. of stereo equipment, cotton stuffed up in the wheel wells, etc....i respect the time spent on something, especially if someone did it themself but it seems to get old. Even if "JDM" style cars all look the same, same stuff, same mods, etc...it may be boring to some but a nice clean car doesn't seem to get old to alot of us...
Kinda off topic but we joke about our kitchen or shop not being JDM when it's all disorganized (is that even a word?) who knows, anyways....my roommates and i are competing for the most JDM bedroom...lol, doesn't necessarily mean bamboo floors and soji screens with a zen garden...but clean conservative with a slight asian influence (which just means less is better). Take a majority of Ikea's setups...so simple yet so hot. Just my![]()

EF, EG, EK, EP, it's just easier to designate the car by it's chasis code so it eliminates to guess work in what generation of the car is when someone says;Originally Posted by B16a2 Civic

It's easier just to say "I've got an EP."
Basically it's a well, kept almost stock looking appearance usually sporting some parts from the cars Japanese counterpart. The "JDM" look is focused on achieving a simple and clean look without anything too flashy. (IMO)Originally Posted by DJ XtRaK
True "JDM" parts are parts that we're originally on the market in Japan and somehow found their way over to the states.
Jun is a Japan only part manufacturer, but they have importers here. I have a Jun flywheel, but it's not a "JDM" Jun flywheel (not as if there's any difference) because it was never sold on the market in Japan
I just bought a JDM Toyota Final Gear kit which is JDM purely because it was sold in Japan and was pulled of an AE86 in Japan and sent to me.
Flat black paint has nothing to do with JDM. We originally painted my friends Integra flat black after seeing the Skunk2 RSX "Project Delta", I thought it'd be cool to paint the Integra the same color. A few months later SCC painted their Project Silvia spray paint black and later did the same to an STi. I think it's dumb, and would rather paint my car semi flat, but I have no money to paint my car, so it stays the way it came. Ugly.
ok, now is this tha point of view that your talkin to someone online, over the phoen or what...im sure if their in person, they get the idea....now, again lets take into example that persons knows nothin about cars so thats why they ask, you tell em you got an EP...you just started a whole new wave of questions.Originally Posted by estis fatuus

Exactly how 95% of those conversations happen around here.
what's wrong with referring your car with it's chassis code? Look at the VIN number on most of those cars...you'll see those magic letters in there.Originally Posted by B16a2 Civic
You tell someone you have a hatchback, then automatically what is their next question..."really, what year?" It's just a real simple way to say exactly what you have. And come on, it's gotta be a turn on when a girl refers to her car with the body/chassis code right?!

CIVIC SI, ok...so is the fucking ugly ass hatch with the misplaced shifter, '91 civic hatch si, '92-'95 body civic hatch si, or the regular Si civic with the b16a2? (yeah I know, hence your name on here) It's not making anything look or sound better, it's just a way to reference your car.Originally Posted by B16a2 Civic
well, it doesnt matter to me what they think the car may be....they can come see it, hence i use the name i bough tit under...Civic Si....Originally Posted by speedminded
