Personally I wish that every1 who doesn't have a passion for ANYTHING (not just cars, but music, fashion, you name it) would get out of it. The people that aren't really passionate about it really is what makes the scene feel like something "negative" to me. Those people are the ones that contaminate the movement and have 200,000 posts on forums but aren't bringing anything of substance to it.
Also - there is nothing wrong w/ having your "favorites" - but if some1 only like specific brands and doesn't move around and try their hand at learning to build diff manufacturers or learn to admire different sectors of automotive culture really urk me.
I'm not a "Honda guy" - I am an automotive enthusiast. That's where I win when other people lose. Embrace it all. I am this way about music - women - cars - LIFE in general. I had fast Hondas when it wasn't even known that they could be. I've had time to get out of cars altogether for a few years and them come back. I can build a car knowing what I know NOW vs building them with what I THOUGHT I knew then and that keeps it fresh for me.
Good luck in moving on to other things - there are lots of places to spend time/money than the automotive subculture. Enjoy!!
