Is this racism?

A columbian female co worker of mine was telling me that she only likes hispanic guys and wouldn't date another race because she doesn't believe in "mixing" as she called it. I therefore started to debate with her about how she is racist and she disagreed. She felt she was open minded and not racist, but just preferred hispanic guys. I told her that if she was open minded she would be open to date guys of all races. I also tried to explain to her that the sole condition for her not liking a black guy for the color of his skin, is racism. She thinks it's jsut perference. She doesn't date any other race than hispanic. Is that not discrimination? Is that not racism? I understand personal preference, much like how mine is for latinas, but I would also date girls of other races.

Myself personally, would date a girl no matter what color or nationality, as long as she is pretty and has a good personality.

What do you all think? Is she racist? Or am I bein stupid?

I've noticed here in ga, since this is the "south" ppl around here are much more likely to be racist against minorities and whatnot. You really don't see a lot of this up north and on the west coast. I feel like ppl should be a little more open minded than to simply date within their race. But, at the end of the day who am I, only Ia's 2nd biggest idiot besides christianintolosewateverthefuckhisnameis

Its hard to say personal preference is racism. I had a white friend that would date nothing but black women and nothing else, does this mean he is racist toward other ethnicities? Nah, just like you may not be attracted to blondes (theres few I find attractive) we have certain characteristics that we are attracted to.

You are correct about the south though, I am a northwestern guy and race was a non issue up there but the climate here is totally different.

It could extend to things beyond just ethnicity...so it may not be "racist" per se, but it's not exactly open-minded either. The idea of "no mixing" though is running that line.

If it's a personal preference...then that's her thing, but if she's going to go and denounce others for such a thing then I would see it as a problem.
