there are many varying opinions on this subject... some from the experienced; some from the inexperienced. i don't think it really matters what someone says when they are outside of the situation...as this is the logical and rational thought process. when in the throes of the situation, the emotional thought process takes over and all logic dissipates.

what is key here is that the 'friend' needs to use rational thought and understand where the OP is at emotionally. if he would do this, he would understand that there are far too many women that are single and available in his general location to worry with a girl that is his friend's ex. caring about your friend's emotional health > getting laid.

if you can't put your friend's feelings above your own, whether or not they are rational or correct, you are not a true friend.
