just wanna kinda get my opinion in here, and im not that intelligent so bare with me cause im not gonna use all those big words or the correct punctuation. i think what qd and catnip are trying to say by "life experiences" is hard things people go through at a young age that some 40 yr olds havnt even been through. i will go out on a llimb and use myself for example, i seen my brother get shot when i was 3 in a drug deal gone wrong that my father brought us along on, life changing enoung for you? and people can "mature" and grow up in just a few years. im not all the way grown yet but i bet if you ask qd how much i have changed over the past year....well. im sure he would have alot to say. and btw not looking for no pity by my little story above so that isnt why this post was made cause i know someone is gonna come in and say quit whining or something along those lines.

firstly, let me say that i hope no one on this board would be insensitive enough to say "quit whining" when you have suffered such a tragedy... if they were to do so, then it would be nothing more than some embicile feeling "bad ass" due to internet anonyminity...

secondly, my condolences to you for having suffered at the hands of violence.

lastly, this is what i knew would eventually occur...someone would equate negative experiences in life to actual life experience. i believe this is what QD was eluding to, as well. everyone suffers life's wrath...some have worse hands dealt than others... molestation, incest, rape, domestic violence, parental abuse...all prime examples of innocence lost. but, innocence taken is not life experience. life experience is a summation of all experiences had during your time of existence. by this definition, time living and breathing = life experience. that was my point.

again, i am not trying to negate the suffering of others... i, too, had a very poor childhood... broken home, mixed up with the wrong crowd, emotionally abusive mother, etc...but, this is not the barometer in which i measure my life experience. take how much you've grown over the last year...extrapolate that into what you will have learned in another 15... make sense?

In the same breath, though, the loss of his younger brother actually is a part of a series of life experiences. It is but one life experience in the series that make up your life.
