I didn't tell him that age was just a number. I was agreeing with him.

Because it is. Maturity and Responsibilities are more important that how old they are.

i have to disagree... there is quite a significance in age differences... and it's not just a number. at 19 you do not have the life experience of someone who is 35. maturity has everything to do with life experience.

granted life experience doesn't mean that you will act mature...but, it does give you a much better foundation.

All situations are different, so I disagree with you. I know 13 year olds that have gone through more than most 20 year olds, and 20 year olds than most 35 year olds...

No it's not. And I can call that through actual experience. Later, QD.

I just realized a minute ago that I seem to be having a conversation with you through two different threads. I'm not really trying to be disagreeing with you more so than just trying to give you info from experience rather than from what you think it is. I'm guilty of doing the same thing a lot. If I've never experienced something, I'll just use common sense to rationalize it. Sometimes it's right and sometimes not.

As in the topic above. Later, QD.

You haven't done anything to "deserve" an arguement or make me want to start one with you. I'm just giving you my opinion from some observations that I've seen.

I'm only 19, but I do understand what you're saying. I've learned more about life, this year, than I have in my whole life. Life lessons from certain occurances can bring more wisdom and knowledge, thus maturity in some ways. Someone that has gone through life very sheltered, may be on a great level of maturity, but with no experience in life, it's very limited. In some ways, I was very mature for an 18 year old last year, but I hadn't gone through a lot that most people have by that age. I went through them this year and I'm learning a LOT.

I'm not sure if I even began to describe what I'm saying, because I'm not sure how to put it into words. I think QD knows what I'm trying to say, so maybe he can chime in to elaborate a little better.

And again, not arguing or anything, just exchanging opinions

i know exactly what you are saying...and in essence, you are proving my point. you are growing and ascertaining life experience. and you will continue to do so.

and certainly, you may have had experiences that even a 90 year old like QD has never had the pleasure of...but, this doesn't equate to true life experience. it's just individual experiences where life experience is a sum of its parts...

and argument was a poor choice of words on my part... my bad.

    btw, i know QD isn't 90...yet.

I think you're missing my point that you can have a 40 year old and a 20 year old on the same maturity level due to experiences had and missed experiences. 10 and 80 isn't plausible IMO, like you said, but I think you understand what I'm saying, also.

But there are some people out there that is my age that have learned a lot by their parents or have been on their own for a while. I honestly think it's just a number. It reflects on how they act as an indivisual and how they act in a mature way, if that makes sense.

i will pose the same question to you as i did QD... if you were to date a 35 year old, what would you have in common with him?

My mom was 17 and my dad was 29, when they started dating.

Maybe you'd like to ask them? lol
