2) if you just paid 50k or 100k for a car you might not want to risk messing something up in your motor during a build attempting it yourself....but if you mess up a b18 you're only out a few hundred bucks...big difference there in price

3) If you have the money, why not pay someone else to do it? I understand you learn a lot from working on your car, but honestly sometimes working on cars is just a pain in the ass...there have been many times I wish I had $$$$$$$ so I could just drop the car off and let someone else figure out what's wrong and fix it.

With all that said you're statement is probably generally true, I'm just pointing out other factors which could be incentive to let a shop du werk.
There are MANY exceptions and loop holes in what I was trying to say. I agree with you though, but I think you know what I meant.
