A.) it will cost more to get a small claims suit againest him
B.) he's not certified or working under a operating business name, therefore you cannot place blame when you willing took your car to someone you know did not work in a shop or had any certification.
I'm sorry this happened to you man....truly it sucks....were you there for the install? I mean, surely you must've known it was not right if he was using a wrench or something to clamp onto the actual shaft? Or perhaps the shocks were already damaged when purchased, and you never noticed? I'd email TOKICO and see if they can help you out on another set, just say that it was your error and it ruined the shocks....I'm sure they can help you out a little bit, wether it be 10% off or something.
