The 80,300-seat Pontiac Silverdome, once home to the Detroit Lions, went for 1 percent of the cost to build it 35 years ago.(55.7 million to be exact) The city of Pontiac owns the stadium, which was valued at $20 million just last year.

Would you have bought the Silverdome for $583,000? And if so, what would you have done with it? I cant think of anything I would do with a football stadium, lol.

I read this earlier and couldn't believe it. There are homes around here that sale for more than that. You could try to host some events there, but with the facility being vacant for so long it wouldn't go over too well. I think the group that bought it is just waiting out the recession and then going to flip the acreage for a crazy profit. I'm not sure what the infrastructure is like around that area, but more than likely it has good highway access which would be prime real estate for a shopping mall or business park.

use it as a safe house for all the fugitives in detroit, collect 10 dollars from each one. lock them in and call the cops. then i would sell it since the value would have gone up due to the drop in crime.
