Whenever race conversations are held I am always interested. I am white (irish, english, and eastern european no one is "pure" btw), listen mostly to hard rock and metal, wear american eagle/hollister/abercrombie/ralph lauren, and I make >100K a year. My high school sweetheart whom I dated for 7 years before marrying is black. I don't see her as black I just see her as who she is. She was born in Missippi, but grew up in Long beach, CA. This viewpoint is probably a product of my upbringing. I am a through and through southern gentleman. Born in Piedmont Hospital, grew up in Duluth, and now I have places in Duluth and Lawrenceville. I say sir and ma'am and ya'll, but I was raised by Socially liberal, financially conservative intellectuals. Mother is in Genetic research and father is a former chess champion. They never once told me why white people are superior to other races. They taught me to think for myself and to judge each individual by their actions and not my the percentage of melanin their melanocytes produce. Hell my first kiss in third grade was on the playground with my Vietnamese "girlfriend". If your parents taught you to hate people different from you, and you respect them enough to listen then you probably hate/fear differences too. However, if you don't respect your parents you'll probably go and do the opposite of what they say and become thugged out and act like someone who you are not just to distance yourself. Sorry for the length, I have lots to say about this stuff.
