I grew up fairly poor, but had a decent house and was able to go to the best local highschool where I grew up. So I suppose I had it better than a lot of people do, but it wasn't much. After graduating highschool, I made a decent life for myself....and it worked, for a while. But this whole blue collar neighborhood and lifestyle isn't for me, and it never was. I've only been broke twice in my life, and both times were some of the most liberating experiences I've had in my life.
Sometimes it takes losing everything to realize you never needed it in the first place.
