I want to post this out of appreciation an awe that there are still decent people in the world...
My girlfriend had rod knock in her 95 civic (She drove through a big puddle) and after about a week, I bought a block and got the car over to a garage. After waiting for a couple of weeks, I decided to tackle changing the engine myself. I downloaded the honda service manual and went to the car. After KPF2007 and I pulled off the head, I was stuck. I did not know how to do the timing and really didn't trust that I could put it in the car.
After exhausting all options, I finally sent a message to barefoot on here. I asked him what I needed to do and how to do it. He called me today while I was at work and tried to walk me through it. Well, I'm not a mechanic. I know VERY little about engines and even less about Hondas.
So, around 7:30, I call him and start asking questions. After realizing how dense I was, he tells me to give him 20 minutes or so. Needless to say, after about 20 minutes, he was pulling up. When I left the car, we had gotten the timing done, all the components on the newly constructed engine, dropped the old block and now we are ready to put the new motor in.
Now, I know this doesn't seem like a huge deal, but, I have never met the guy. Apparently he knows a good number of the guys in ASAP, but he had never seen me and this was the first time we had even spoken. He came over on a whim and stayed all night to do the work. On top of that, he never asked for anything in return.
Barefoot - I appreciate everything you did, and I will do everything in my power to do anything you need man, just say the word....
Thanks![]()
