Default So I usually don't do this....

I want to post this out of appreciation an awe that there are still decent people in the world...

My girlfriend had rod knock in her 95 civic (She drove through a big puddle) and after about a week, I bought a block and got the car over to a garage. After waiting for a couple of weeks, I decided to tackle changing the engine myself. I downloaded the honda service manual and went to the car. After KPF2007 and I pulled off the head, I was stuck. I did not know how to do the timing and really didn't trust that I could put it in the car.

After exhausting all options, I finally sent a message to barefoot on here. I asked him what I needed to do and how to do it. He called me today while I was at work and tried to walk me through it. Well, I'm not a mechanic. I know VERY little about engines and even less about Hondas.

So, around 7:30, I call him and start asking questions. After realizing how dense I was, he tells me to give him 20 minutes or so. Needless to say, after about 20 minutes, he was pulling up. When I left the car, we had gotten the timing done, all the components on the newly constructed engine, dropped the old block and now we are ready to put the new motor in.

Now, I know this doesn't seem like a huge deal, but, I have never met the guy. Apparently he knows a good number of the guys in ASAP, but he had never seen me and this was the first time we had even spoken. He came over on a whim and stayed all night to do the work. On top of that, he never asked for anything in return.

Barefoot - I appreciate everything you did, and I will do everything in my power to do anything you need man, just say the word....

    Thanks

Thats awesome that he did that for you Donnie. Glad to know there are some good people left out there, you being one of them for sure as well.

Donnie helped me out big time with a job. After 10 months, I have been offered a position. I owe Donnie big time, he is a great guy.

Last October, the alternator on my Z31 took a shit and the car was stuck at Red Phoenix's shop for 3 weeks or so. I didnt have the money to buy the part and have it put on, and the alternator on those is no easy task. I PMd dirty mech, and we met up the next morning at like, 8am in the freezing cold and he put it on for dirt cheap. thats my "good ppl still exist" storys

Timing on a honda is one of the easiest to time. Try a newer Volvo, those cars suck. No timing marks and hardly any information on them for non Volvo shops.

There are only a handful of members that actually help out others on here, he is one of them.

There are some good people left.

When I had my Miata I was doing a swap and the motor I bought didn't have the right crank pulley and bolts, well a guy off another forum PM'ed me saying he had everything I needed, drove all the way from Atlanta to my house and dropped the parts off...FOR FREE. He asked for NOTHING.

I had one guy help me with a cam mod on my Miata for free. Another was already doing work on my car and problems kept coming up. Once he knew I had reached my budget, he did the extra for free.

Thats what real car people do.. they help. and not ask to get rich in return... I always looked at it as if he was a real, didnt talk shit, and needed help. im more then happy to.. plus ya gotta get him racing again so you can make some money off him at race wars!

But seriously its the way that it should be. specially now, not everyone has tons of money to dump into there cars, and if someone is struggleing to accomplish there goals. If you know how and your not busy. why not. might get beer outa it and make a great friend in the process.. beats sittin at home rubbin lotion on the skin to 80's porn! cause ya never know.. they might have hot friends!

Was good meeting you, man. Definitely a good guy. i appreciate you riding out this way to help him and Ranessa. I wasn't able to be around long due to trying to get my car on the street safely, but the time I was there, definitely a good time. As Donnie said, if you ever need anything, just hit us up. One good deed deserves another, and you definitely deserve it. Thanks again, man. Now, if we can figure out that little jumping spark plug wire problem. lol
