in the beginning they werent all about violence. The original founders were notable members of society, hell almost every grand wizard is in prominent social circles to this day. Granted they have had to evolve but still the same. Cross burning started by sending a message to white slave sympathizers. There where more than a few white people getting beat to send a message.
While most of your post is correct, it still does not take away from the fact that the KKK has a history of violence and even through documented or better yet, estimated numbers, there is to this day no conceivable way to account for how many Blacks were killed.
of course.there is no way to have an exact number. I just find it amusing that there are gangs in america that have killed way more people in their 20-30 year existance than the kkk has in their 150 year existance. guess what,they are black and hispanic gangs.
You're off base in two respects.
1. Gangs have existed for more than 20/30 years in America and initially gangs were not of Black and Hispanic origins.
2. Not having concrete numbers, particularly when for a period of time in America murders against Blacks were not even considered a crime, it is highly unfair and unrealistic to claim that more lives have been lost to gang violence than to what is, by your own claims, 150 years.
