radiation levels make sunlight different from incandescent light. its the same thing that acts as a stimulus to the increased production of melanin in one's skin. this would also apply to spontaneous combustion of a vampire....
given these facts it is safe to say that they could not use a tanning bed as it would result in them 'sploding...
