I grew up in NY and live now in FL, and it seems like I have the culture thrown in my face everyway.
I've never met more rude and unfriendly people, IN MY EXPERIENCES, it is a generalization.
At my current job now they are rude, and speak english when it fits. They seem to be so hateful and disrespectful to the country that took them in and let them live and work.
It seems they are the one group that refuses to assimilate, but rather forces their culture at others. You don't see signs in German or Italian, they are always in Spanish. Why such the refusal to be an American and speak english?
I don't get it. I have plenty of hispanic friends and I always talk to them about that. They seem to be more Americanized though, so it isn't the same as the people who barely know any english.

i too lived in NY and when i was 8 i Moved to miami an now live her in GA. u are right they do make an exception for hispanics in florida. but wat most people dont know is that a lot of hispanics hold position in some form of government in FL. i will tell that hipanics look out for 1 another that why there are signs in spanish, but ive seen the same here. when i went to school in lawerenceville i seen that there were a bunch if signs all over the place in vietnamese. does that mean i should be predjudice towards them? when i was going to school there were a lot of asians that went there too and they all seemed to stick together and gave u some sort of additude when u ask then a question or even tried to get to know them or make conversation... does that give me the right to call the gook's or chinks?
also hispanics are very proud people and they are not going to just drop there culture to adopt another. they speak spanish cuz it comfortable and its there native laguage and when speaking to another native chance of them speaking english is very slim. its like if u were to move to paris and u ran into another american, do u think that the to of u should have to speak french just cuz yall now live in paris?
i will admit that i have met a lot of hispanics that would talk shit about america but not all where hispanic either there are so many cultures in FL. i was born in america and i consider myself an american so i will admit that it offended me to hear them say that, i can agree with u on that statement. but i still dont see the point in these predjudices.
u do make valid points in this post and i havent seen any of the post julio spaeks of but maybe u just need to loosen up and interact with there cultrue and maybe get a better understanding. also get used to how FL, it is completly different from NY culture wise and it aint going anywhere.
