That sucks OP. If you think it's someone you might know (i.e. be able to identify), cameras might not be a bad investment.

+1. If you say where you live is pretty quiet then chances are its someone who lives in your area or someone thats been in your house before. Monitored alarm systems and surveillance cameras are about as good as you can do without actually being home armed when they show up. Sorry for your losses!
