He was planning/preparing for a 50 show concert tour called This Is It. The movie that recently came out was the footage from the rehearsals of that concert.

Potentially afterwards there was supposed to be a new album.

Unfortunately, we won't ever get to see or hear him do new stuff .

Weird and creepy as he might have become in his later years, there's no denying the man changed the face of music and inspired countless numbers of people.
