If WE have to pay $60-$70 a barrel for CRUDE oil aka not gasoline, it takes money to load in onto a tanker, it costs money to make that tanker travel to the refining stations, it takes money to put in additives, it takes money to transport it to gasoline holding tanks, it cost money to transport it to the gas stations, it cost money for the gas station to operate in order to provide you with the gas.
you add in state taxes, and that's our finalized price.
and some of you will argue that there shouldnt be a gas tax.....okay, do you like that nifty road you are one? do you like those nifty police officers that patrol your neighborhoods? do you like those firemen that come to your house to put out the fires? or how about those school busses that come and pick up your kids?
everything costs something, and our taxes are what pay for that....every little bit counts, so let's say we cut the gas tax....well that just takes away from the anunal budget of things that the Local Govt has to take care of...road maintence, funding of police, fire dept, repairing water and seweage lines......
so of the things I have listed, which can you do without? because if you take out taxes here and there, the local GOVT will have to cut costs in certain areas and it will effect us.
