gas price gone up/ not runing out of fuel????

If WE have to pay $60-$70 a barrel for CRUDE oil aka not gasoline, it takes money to load in onto a tanker, it costs money to make that tanker travel to the refining stations, it takes money to put in additives, it takes money to transport it to gasoline holding tanks, it cost money to transport it to the gas stations, it cost money for the gas station to operate in order to provide you with the gas.

you add in state taxes, and that's our finalized price.

and some of you will argue that there shouldnt be a gas tax.....okay, do you like that nifty road you are one? do you like those nifty police officers that patrol your neighborhoods? do you like those firemen that come to your house to put out the fires? or how about those school busses that come and pick up your kids?

everything costs something, and our taxes are what pay for that....every little bit counts, so let's say we cut the gas tax....well that just takes away from the anunal budget of things that the Local Govt has to take care of...road maintence, funding of police, fire dept, repairing water and seweage lines......

so of the things I have listed, which can you do without? because if you take out taxes here and there, the local GOVT will have to cut costs in certain areas and it will effect us.


and I commend Sonny Purdue for temporarily holding the gas tax for a month, but I knew it was a bad idea from the get go, because now everyone will bitch once it is put back into place, and say that everyone is trying to make money.

bottom line, if the price of barrel goes up, price will increase....Any company is in it to make a profit....please show me a company that is willing to lose money to operate? Wether it is a small profit or large profit...a gain is a gain....so making money is GREED? Simple Economics.

I agree with most of what you said, but try not to make the mistake of thinking that our tax revenue always goes to real infrastructure. Georgia's budget, just like every other state's, is filled to the brim with pork.

Unfortunately, right now especially, you'll be hard pressed to find a politician who isn't corrupt to the gills, who doesn't spend millions or billions of taxpayer dollars to buy votes, and who actually believes in the constitution and it's limitations.

Hell, today's Republicans have had a spending bonanza during the past 6 years that took Democrats 3 decades to emulate before. It's time to realize that Republicans are only nominally different from Democrats, and they both deserve to be kicked out of government alltogether.

That's why I vote Libertarian every election, every time.

In todays world we have to blame every problem on someone. Almost everyone has a prescription for something. People spend more time learning about celebs or athletes than they do about their leaders and government. It's scary that an Indian guy I work with (been in the states maybe 5 years) knows more about American Politics and History than probably 90%+ of the people our age.
