Miata is a true sports car, it's based on every other great real open sports car, and put into one better, reliable, nimble package with modern day suspension. Anyone who bashes a Miata is obviously not very knowledgeable in the automotive and especially motorsport world.
Obviously good verts have been around. The Miata itself is based on an old Lotus. The fact is, the Miata is an excellent sportscar and is the only real reason why there is any kind of a convertible coupe market today. Ask any credible source. S2K, Solstice, Sky, Viper Vert., and others wouldn't even be around if not the rebirth that the Miata gave to the market. There's a reason why the Miata is held is such high regard around the world and it's not because of the hairdressers.
