So for all the people saying you're a low life for being in a gang, and you're this and you're that. STFU. It's as easy as that. You have NO clue what that lifestyle is besides what a television and music tells you it is. You have NO personal inside experience, you have no psychiatric evaluation of a populace of gang members to construct a feasible summary with diagnosis. You have shit, but an also ignorant and N_igger_ish form of thought. It's easy to sit back and laugh and talk shit about something you know nothing about because you're ignorant. Any intellectual would sit back and actually have some curiosity to the subject to at least do formidable research before making an opinionated argument. To assume that the only real life exposure to gangs that I have had, and I'm speaking from my perspective because you have chosen, for whatever reason, to single out my response, is on tv or the news, you would be promoting, in a sense, the same hypocrisy that you are condemning. I have family members, i.e cousins, who have been blessed with the same monetary, social , and familial advantages that I have had and instead have chosen a different path in life. After personally witnessing the lifestyle that is gang banging, I feel like I have every right to feel and have the opinions that I do. There's nothing more real than having a family member incarcerated for murdering someone. Gang related violence. Not the fake shit Mark is talking about.

Marky Mark, I have no idea that 'wangs' are nor that they even existed. I used to associate with gang members back in my early teens - would smoke weed and go out tagging shit up and starting random fights at malls with people who wore a 'color' that we didn't tolerate.
Luckly I was smart enough to not get too deep into that shit and eventually moved away from that life. IA isn't a place to talk about gang related bullshit because it's just that - bullshit. I see why gangs exist today and will continue to exist tomorrow; self-esteem and social influence. It does not matter how much money your family has, or where you live (although these factors do increase chances), but it is mainly that many of our teens do not have a real positive influence in their lives. I know someone is going to argue with me and say I don't know what I'm talking about, but you will be wasting your time.
I will say that once youth get at a young age, it is hard to convince them that there is a another way. They find friends, protection, money, sex, and power; all things that can be achieved by not joining a gang. Single parent homes, no father, bad parents in general, parents that are balling but work 100 hours a week, etc. all make for a kid to go seek acceptance. Many of the youth that join gangs now (not knowing current members well), are mainly scavengers, and are set out to do the dirty work. Until you prove yourself, by doing 90% illegal activity, then are you respected to a certain extent.
Of course, that's exactly what it is today! But with so many negative influences on a child's mind out there already it's hard to only point the finger at the parents. There are of course a lot of examples of bad parenting out there, but damn, information is getting to kids faster than ever these days. That information that's getting to them is what you have to really filter out and that only goes back to good parenting.
