Why ?

Well if you want a fast car, and you buy a honda then your buying the wrong car (excluding the S2000, NSX, and TL). Unless you like the challenge in turning and economy car into something fast.

There are several reasons I have a civic. When I was in highschool I always liked the 5th gen coupes shape. It's easy for me to do all my own work, it's reliable, gets good MPG, parts are endless, they are easy to sell, and they are low emissions. I've made it faster, look better (IMO), and handle better than stock. It's fun for me. If I only cared about making a 10 sec. straight line beast I would of chose something else. All around it's fun, and most importantly it's paid for. I can't justify buying a car that depreciates $300-$500 dollars a month.

Anyway people that bash Hondas don't really understand what Hondas are designed for. It's not about being the fastest. Although if Honda wanted to throw everything else out, I'm sure they could be the fastest. But it would hurt sales. They are a business, and the #1 goal in a business is to make money. They know exactly what they are doing, and they are doing it as well as anyone else is. The day mitsubishi sells more cars than Honda is a day we'll never see in our lifetime.

I can't hate on hondas i've owned like 7 of them total so i can't hate. Hondas are pretty convenient cars. The parts are relatively inexpensive and easily attainable.

hell yeah those foxbodies= MAD CHEAP... Moreso than DSMS, at least from the people I know. DSMS and 5.0's id say as far as bang:buck ratio. Hondas still have a really high bang:buck ratio too, but DSMS and 5.0s = BANG.

dollar for dollar hondas are still cheaper... you can get 500$ hondas all day long... 1500$ motor swap + 3000$ turbo = 5000$ 12sec car

i think the main difference than a DSM or a Mustang is honda are 100x more accessible... you can find them everywhere, as well as the parts, and the shops to work on them.

THe problem is the necessity to have to do a swap to make it be as quick as most cars that already come with good motors that make nice power. If u have to do a swap to a car to make it worth anythign at the track i cant mess with it. You can go alot faster with alot other cars than a honda for alot less...its been proven..hondas just popular.

It depends what your into and what u know, the longer u mess aroudn with a type of car the cheaper everythign gets. Ive been messin with mazdas, and for 500$ and 5k$ , id go get a 90-93 escort Gt/protege in some old ladies yard and bust ass all year. im sure dsm/mustang/honda guys can do the same.....i just wish more people would do what they want to do instead of doin what everyone else does.. i hate that

but u can do the same to about 10 other cars minus the engine swap....and be faster or jsut as fast.

Overall... Honda is a great company... So who cares what people say.

On a side note... No one mentioned how ugly some of those old dsm's are compared to the old rex's and eg's that are just as fast.

AWD Dsms are the best bang for the buck car hands down. My car ran 13.7s with just a boost controller and a gutted cat. Thats one $20 mod. I've spent some more money on it (less then 250 bucks total) and have run 13.5@102 ish in hot weather. All it takes to run 12s in an AWD is a 16g turbo,2.5 inch turboback exhaust,boost controller,hacked maf,and some good gas and driving. I may actually put something other then the stock turbo on my 91 talon and actually put it in the 12s.

I hear good things about the old School DSM's... (early 90's) because after that They were terrible according to all the shit and reviews I read.. But what Do I know.


The 240 Mods supposdly are also pretty decent in price? I hear.. Not sure.. SR Swap make some good power also for the price...

But One thing about domestic cars.. they make power more easy I think.. I know a few cats with camaros and stang with not many Mods or money spend and are running 13's to high 12's...
