Mark its cool to have ambitions and want to be successfull. No one is knocking that.
But there is quite a few business owners in here, and people that run a company. Some in here are stock traders, insurance company owners, parts companys, truck driver (which i consider kind of owning your own business etc)
Its extremely hard to make a million dollars CASH. It takes YEARS. VERY Few people are that lucky. Odds are against you, thats not saying dont try and do it, thats just being REALISTIC.
Especially in this economic climate where people arent buying any luxury items, you better know your market, your mark up, and keep cost LOW. I make good money, and i still rent a room for $400 a month at a friends house. I dont drive an expensive car, i dont have lavish things. I pump pretty much all my money back into my business. Its like a living organism the more you feed it the more it will grow.
Many people make cardinal mistakes which is expanding too fast or having way too much overhead. I know people that have to make $12,000 a month just to pay RENT on their SHOP. How can you expect to turn a profit when you are -$12000 in the hole every month? For the first 2 -5 years, start off small and only spend money when you need to. Dont get ahed of yourself, keep costs LOW. Dont give a shit what other people say, just keep your head down and nose to the grindstone.
SAVE YOUR MONEY, do not blow it, live like you make no money at all. I pay myself a salary of $300 a week. not alot of money, but i learned to live on that when i worked at other places and thats all i got paid. Sure i mean at the end of the day its all my money, but i pay myself only what i need to survive.
This buying ferraris, lambos, blah blah blah is all bullshit. it shows how stupid some people are. Cars are the WORST investment you can make. Spending $400,000 on a car when you have a million is retarded its a depreciating asset, and a fast one at that.
If you have 5 million thats one thing.

I drive a 5 year old RX8. not an expensive car at all. I could drive like a brand new G37S or some other $40,000 car, and i would appear to have more money than the RX8 i drive.
But i dont really care about my image, i care about how much money i have, and the future of my business. So i spend money where it is necessary, cars just dont have any investment future to me.
Now Danny, hes got more money than i do cause he can afford to build a race car as a toy, i cant. Hes got homes, etc, he does well for himself, i would listen to his advice too.
Danny and i actually talk occasionally on AIM about business and from what he says he knows what he is doing . he knows his business and his customers. You would be surprised how many people dont know those 2 things
