Is there anyone not concerned with the economy?

We keep hearing about buyer confidence... well people are afraid to spend the little they have b/c of how shaking everything is. Spend your money today and get your pink slip tomorrow. Very interesting times we have right now. Did anyone else notice the new Hyundai's new program they'll let you return your car if you loose your job http://www.hyundaiusa.com/financing/...Assurance.aspx . Good marketing idea.

I know its pretty hard to find job let alone a good one right now. I just find it funny the people who rather go in debt than take a step backwards to pay your bills. Just my whats your take?

the really sucky thing is that i really feel like its on us. if we the consumers dont get confident again, it never will. the government is trying everything they can, atleast it sems like to me, to try and get everything better again. to me, its on all of us. i mean if we dont spend, nothings going to happen. the government injecting money into the economy and business is only going to help so much. the businesses wont stay afloat after they spend money on operations and product if we dont buy anything. and i mean if we dont buy anything it makes the businesses loose money, which makes people loose jobs. which makes people not spend. i dunno, i think people are to scared to do anything.

i am actually not worried about it. In my industry people have to fix their cars or they have nothing at all. My business has been pretty steady and the body shop next door always sends us work.

i know that but what im saying is that if they saw that we were going to start spending again. then they might start loaning again. if were not spending money on any product then why give us money from a loan that we wont probably pay that back either.

Exactly. Most people arent buying new cars b/c they cost more to repair and maintain than older cars. Typically, most older cars 90's get better gas mileage than these heavy automobiles around now.

Think how great they have made these new engines to make 25mpg with a 3500lb car. Think if they brought that car down to 2900 lbs and removed all the extra weight (seat warmers, seat adjusters, electronic tilt, 37 air bags, etc...

People have to fix cars, there's no ands, ifs, or buts about it.

Eventually EVERYONE will be affected. Crime is rising and no one is really happy.

Since this is a consumer economy - we have to start spending again for the econ to improve, but it cant improve unless we spend. Of course we cant spend if we dont have jobs... you see the pattern.

Gov doesn't seem to be doing enough... we need some type of stimulus bill, but limit the spending to what will actually jump start our economy (infrastructure upgrades = 40+% of unemployed construction workers can work)... spending money to research bird migrations isn't priority unless it is putting 10,000's to work.

I think what disturbs me the most the lack of help Washington is... right/left are still trying to figure out who is right instead of what is best for us. I think it is a trickle down effect. If they get their shit in order then the masses will follow suit. 1 Trillion dollars really isn't alot considering we have spent that basically on a war that hasn't brought us any return on the investment.

it just sucks that they are are helping destroy our country. we as a people will do what we have to do to get our country back on track. right now our way is to not spend as much as we used to. but to have bad examples as people like them (not saying every one of them) hurts the moral and our economy, in my opinion.

ok...this is what I dont get....

You dont like Bush..fine...whatever who cares.

But you talk shit about our troops who WANT to go to war. If they didn't WANT to go they WOULDNT have signed up. I would have signed up too but I had other shit to tend to first. They knew the consequences and they were FINE with it.

I don' think many wanted to actually go to war, but they did want to serve this country who so happens to need them to go to war.

LOL again, we will not see the benefits of the war for YEARS TO COME. How many times do i have to say that. ITs funny the people saying "we got nothing out of that war" are the same people saying "LETS GO TO AFGHANISTAN!!"

    or

"we only went to iraq over oil"

What have we gotten for our money in Iraq? How bad you think its gonna be when all the gov contracting jobs that employ HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS IF NOT MILLIONS go away cause the war is over and we are pulling out.

where you think people like Nyteryder are gonna go when they come back and we have 9% unemployment?

You guys act like the only people over there are wielding a gun.

Im worried about the economy cause there seems to be a more prominent "doomsday scenario" with this recession than any other. Im sick to death of Congress and our GOVT, both sides of the aisle, i see a massive civil uprising in our future. SOmething along the lines of 1776

If you signed up after 9/11 you knew you were going to war. Anyone who's in now and says different is just lying or a damn idiot.
