Alright, here's the thing. I think this idea is a huge cluster fuck waiting to happen. But if enough people want to do it, we'll make it work. However a few details need to be worked out first. Like
1. A car, need general agreement on what car to build. So we need to put together a list of junked cars that we know we can get, where they are and the $ of it. Make a list, then vote
2. Who's gonna own the car? Yea we can build it a my house if you want, but if it's mine not every Tom, Dick and Harry is gonna drive around under my insurance policy
3. Once it's done then what? Do I get more of the car because I donated a Bride seat than the guy would had the $2 fuse that the car wouldn't run without?
4. If people donate money a system needs to be worked out on how to handle that money. If the money is sent to me and I buy a part I think is cool but you don't, then what?
5. A lot more shit and I don't feel like typing anymore, but yea... If this is possible it's not as simple as "lets go get a car and work on it". Which is why most people say it won't work. But hey, For the folks who wanna do it. Gimmie (us) some input.
Would need to be voted on. What shell, whats the purpose, then we would need to list all the parts and mods we want done. Not just "well lets do this or that," but already have it planned out. With all the shops on the site, we could talk to them about discount etc. on labor and parts in turn for putting their logo on the vehicle. Then once finished you could show it, race it, autocross, etc. After the season we could sell it and the money would either go into another "site" car or the money could go into the website or hosting a meet or something.
