Default Getting tired of it really...

I will start off by saying yes 'my guy' lost so maybe it changes my perspective and I am sure in my mind I am biased but...

Is anyone else getting tired of the spectacle the inauguration is going to be this year? EVERY channel has coverage and specials DAYS before the event. There was a concert, celebrities and more. My wife says they are watching it in school. I never saw a single inauguration while in school. Sure it is history but enough is really getting to be enough.

I know this is sort of a rant but I am tired of every other commercial on every channel going on about their special and their coverage on Tuesday.

    Is it Wednesday yet?

I really don't see a problem with it, b/c the new president did make history and I am glad that schools are getting kids involved with politics. So hopefully they will take voting and the political process serious when they are able to vote

Personally I think thats bullshit. If anything it will create an influx of more idiotic mindless sheep who know nothing about how things work.

I think if someone is honestly interested in politics then they should sit down and do their own damn research not be told by their teachers/unions how they think the world works.

I hope this is a joke and you are not hinting that I am tired of it because Obama is black.

I for one hope that Obama does a great job and can get us back on track. The downside is that the media is buidling this up to epic proportions and Obama has not even taken office yet. No other president has had this much attention and to me it is not warranted.

This I agree with. LIke I said when won. He is about to be our new leader. No matter what your political belief is we all need to hope he does well because if he doesnt then we are all screwed. But the media is in his back pocket. I think that even if he fucks up the media will be right there to back him up.

I as an American hope it is awesome turn around. It would be awesome for the country. I would be all for this celebration POST positive turn around. The hype and 'build up' are only putting extra pressure on the future president. It is a little out of hand at this point.

Getting kids involved by teaching them A.) The president has powers in his office like they claim to when running for office. B.) The president is elected by the people of this country. C.) The president makes laws. D.) The president has anything to do with any part of government that isn't the direct management of the military, suggestion of nominees for confirmation to appointments for judicial and executive positions, or the rubber-stamping of typically veto-proof legislature...

All of that is bad for the Union in the worst kind of way. Maybe we should teach them that the best way to make a difference is to vote with our wallets, our feet, and with our voices for legislature. If every person in the country refused to pay taxes, the government wouldn't have enough money to convince the cops to put us in jail. Hah, end of this ridiculous and honestly unconstitutional income tax right there. If every person in this country insisted that every legislature who voted down a bill that brought about real reform got kicked out of office at the next election, we'd have a real voice rather than all these people bitching about the "Political Class" and an "Oligarchal Congress" that doesn't care for the people.

And if everyone who bitched about this country without being willing to do SOMETHING to make it change would just leave, we wouldn't have a need for ridiculous media stunts costing hundreds of millions of dollars in the midst of the worst economic meltdown in 50 years and no hope in sight of an upswing yet. Get real, Obama will do just what Bush did, which is to say, he will take flak when it goes bad, take credit when it goes well, and have little to no real impact on the country as a whole.

Sorry. I took it as you saying I am sick of the media hype because he is black. I think it sounds like you are as sick of it as I am.

I say let them enjoy the party. Let them have their fun, because on wednesday when they wake up, and their lives have not "changed" they will have to face reality. His campaign was based off of hope, and it was genious. The same people that count on the lottery to change their lives forever some day, are the same type of people that he captured votes from. They honestly think he will change their life, and their situation. Because we all know someone else is in charge of your life, not you, yourself.

I was showing a coworker (one that voted for Obama) some pictures from my honeymoon in Hawaii. She saw a beach picture, and asked me "Is that a big ocean"? I just shook my head, and walked away. How could this person be intelligent enough to gather facts, form an opinion, and cast their vote?

Hope is a good thing, but you can't depend on it solely.

    Word!

I was flipping the channels last night, and came across a black televangelist program. The reverend said "I'm tired of seeing african americans act like everybody else" (whatever that means?), and then 2 minutes later he starts talking about the unfairness of being treated differently? WTF???

I think with either candidate shit would suck anyway. Might as well do what we have to do and hang on for the ride. If he does a good job, Ill probably either be happy or not care. If he does a shitty job, Ill either be sad or not care. This is true with either candidate.

I am watching "The N". It is like 'teen nickelodeon' or something. That 70s show is on. During 2 episodes... 1 hour of TV they had a "The N - We are in Washington for the Obama Party" commercial 6 times.

Race is the only thing that this election has been about. If you listen to most reports from the media he's black first then a president. Yeah can you imagine if they reported a president as white first? I can't see the big hype here, it was going to happen one day, a black person in this country has the exact same legal rights as any other person here so it was only a matter of time before one became president. Do we need it thrown up in our face everytime the news comes on that he's black? No thanks all of America gets that and it shouldn't matter. He's a president first who happens to be black not the other way around. The simple reality is that the expectations placed on him by the media more then likely will not be met, he's just a person and while I hope he does good (I did not vote for him, but he's there now so I hope for the best) I try to keep a realistic outlook on the situation, he's not going to be the answer to all of the problems we face as a nation.

I think it's stupid that they've been hiring all these celebrities to make appearances at the pre-inauguration events. Isn't the government in enough debt as it is?

I have vowed to give Obama as much support as dems did when Bush won.

And Obama is really starting on the way to fiscal responsibility, by spending nearly 4x what that evil Bush did for his.

Default This Country Still Hangs On to Race.......

Hmmm, I can see and understand the gripe from some individuals. It is a moment in history that many thought would never come. It is a day that many people still think is surreal. It is a day that some people wish was not happening.

For those of you that say "he is just another president" and/or "whats the big deal"......this is an exception to the past. Why? Simple, he is not white. This election has been about race. Qualified man of color was in the presidental race with a Qualified white man. VERY DIFFERENT. The people who disagreed with that notion were the same ones that called Obama a POS, or worse. Deeply rooted feelings of past racial anger fuel much of the fear that is in many Americans. You all have to understand that 50 years was NOT a long time ago. Realize that many teens/adults from that era were taught to fear white and hate blacks. When Obama started this journey, it was about race from the beginning. People who didn't know him were confused. He is not a Colin Powell, Condelezza Rice, Andrew Young, Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton; familiar faces in America.

Celebrate the moment for the country as a whole. Sure everyone partied when he announced he was running, we he defeated Hilary, and when he defeated McCain. So what if the inauguration is in schools. It should be in schools and gov't should be openly discussed throughout grade school. I think people should be forced to acheive at least a "B" in the subjects of U.S. history, political science, and world history. A well structured curriculum would open the eyes to the evolution of our country. I am happy for America; this stepping stone is progressing us forward. You gotta give a little, to gain a lot.

RedGT: If everyone in this country could be trusted with their own path to education, we would be setting the biggest Failboat out to sail. Interest past the school teachings will yield our big thinkers and innovaters.

Special Attention to PSINXS: YES, the subject of a black president has casued a racial uproar. Despite all the other things that should supercede this moment, this takes the cake? Hardly the case! Not mindless lynching, not a case of discrimination, not another case of civil unjust. A man of color being elected President of this country caused the BIGGEST racial MESS? Look at Martin Luther King Jr., what he did, what he went through, and how his life was taken. That is a moment that caused lots of uproar. You say Obama is garbage, why? No one cares that you are black.....doesn't matter, but since you did bring it up, are you angry that he ran AND was elected for President? Your post left lots of gray....makes you seem like you wish that the President was just white to keep things calm. America is a constantly evolving country. When change occurs people are fearful because it deviates from the norm.

Append: If Obama is a bad President, we still have progressed as a country in some capacity.

To the OP: I want my can of Game Fuel
