    Default Hmm, machine class, what to do.

    As a few of you know, I'm in school to be a machinist. I'm studying milling and lathing, at the moment. My current project is machining a C-Clamp from 4140 steel (chromoly), but I'd like to get ideas for something after that. Can anyone suggest a somewhat simple part to be made or have an idea for me? I'm not referring to something that has to be done on the CNC machine, but something along the lines of a special tool, cylindrical part, etc. Like I said, I'm making a C-Clamp from scratch, so anything in that skill level. I might make special hood spacers as I'm missing two of the four, making my hood not open/close correctly. The other idea I had was a rear strut brace, maybe something like the "miracle x bar" (?) for my civic or integra.

    Make me a gauge pod for my gauges. Three 2 1/16 holes for three gauges. Basically a flat/rectangular piece of metal with three holes.

    just do shift knobs. I use to make them all the time in my welding class and sold them to kids fro $20-40....all materials were on the teacher, and they never cared as long as you were "productive" and never said anything about selling the shit.....all they knew was that I had about a bajillion shift knobs at my house...lol
