    Default Anyone live in Kennesaw?

I am in the market to purchase a house and there are two areas I am looking at.

I want to move to Kennesaw, but I am not sure about the traffic situation in the morning seeing as though I work in Smyrna.

I don't mind some traffic, but is it as terrible as everyone makes it out to be?

The house I am looking at is a few minutes from the Chastain exit.

Even though I would love to live in that particular area, and use it to my advantage for resale, the traffic situation will be a make or break.

eh it can get pretty rough, starting predominately where 75 and 575 merge right by barrett (RIGHT at chastain pretty much... lol), and continuing allll the way to ATL. so in so many words, yeah, its pretty bad.

Yup, starts around there and only gets worse as you get closer to the Perimeter.

I'm not even going to get into what you would go through on your way home

Yea, my garmin took me some weird ways back to my job. They are mostly back roads. Just not sure if those back roads are congested early in the morning too..

I drive from woodstock to windy hill rd everyday with normal traffic takes about 30 minutes to get to work in the morning if there are no accidents or anything thats leaving at 7am. What time do you go to work? I found that a few minutes earlier and its a lot smoother like leaving at 6:55 will get me to work easily by 7:30 but if I leave at say 7:10 I might not get there till 8.

I lived in Kennesaw for a year and a half and drove to Windy Hill for the last six months of it. I can tell you this: I-75 is terrible if you're travelling any time AFTER 7:30. 41 is terrible at the North 120 loop and the Canton Highway intersection. In between those two spots and after the North 120 Loop, it's OK. You're moving faster than traffic is on I-75, I promise you that. However if you're trying to get from Kennesaw to Windy Hill area by 9am or so, you have two options: Leave at 7:30, buy/pack a breakfast and eat somewhere until you need to be at work, or leave at 8:00 and be barely on time (Assuming no accidents on 41 or I-75). I essentially drove the path you're talking about every day in my Audi, 13 miles each way. Spent just under two gallons of gas every day when gas was $3+. I spent a RIDICULOUS amount of money on Gas. I mean it was to the point where if I went into work for just 1 hour I barely made enough to pay for the gas I spent getting there. Working five to six days a week at 35-40 hours you can imagine how much that sucked. As soon as I switched Jobs and moved back over to the Cobb/Fulton border I have a ton more money in my gas budget. Traffic in that area isn't TERRIBLE if you spend some time to learn where the bad spots are (Barret & 41 is an absolute NO. EVER. Learn to love Bells Ferry and the shorter trips it brings). Barret Lakes and Barret is SUPER bad in the morning. Barret AND Chastain around I-75 and 575 in the mornings are TERRIBLE, learn to use the back roads behind KSU and the north end of Busbee.

In short, Traffic is pretty bad over there, and ESPECIALLY at this time of the year, traffic is terrible because of the mall/best buy and all that. Beautiful place to live though.

And in all seriousness, there is next to no traffic if you leave before 7am, and it's moderate if you're leaving around 7:30. If you're leaving at 8 though, forget it.

    Thanks for everything.

I go to work at 8. I work off of South Cobb Drive near Concord and Windy Hill.

Its a hard decision for me. I lovethe house in Kennesaw, plus its in a really nice area.

Smyrna/Marietta is here and there. Some places are nice, some aren't. I have found a few places I like here too though.

Do you have to be AT work at 8, or do you have to be at work at like 8:30/9ish? If you have to be at work at 8, like I said, just leave around 7am and eat breakfast once you get down there. If you wait until 7:30 and eat breakfast at home you'll probably end up rushing to get there or just being late. In all seriousness, you can move the time you go down back 5 minutes every day until you figure it all out. The traffic is all patterns in that area and it's because there's a lot of people trying to go the same direction to get to the same places at the same times. Most office workers have to be at work around 8-9 so 7:30-8:45 is the worst time for traffic in that area. Coming home that way is always bad but it's a lot easier than getting down there. The traffic is definitely something you can deal with and overcome, don't let it keep you from the house you really want. Just understand what comes with the deal.

PS: I really REALLY love the Kennesaw area. If we don't stay in the house we're in now (And I dunno if we can, since eventually I'm going to have to move to Athens if I want to go to UGA Law lol, hopefully I can just get a small place up there and keep both >_>) Myself and the Ms. are going to definitely be looking for a place in Kennesaw.

Yea I pretty much already anticipated having to leave at 7, which doesnt bother me. I have to be work at 8. I am going to do some comparables and probably decide on that house. Plus my agent lives in that area and she really likes it.
