I'm a pretty big space geek myself reading some of your posts is jogging my memory actually.
but you also have to think about the moon being a better launching platform. it has 1/6 the gravity of earth which equals to a lot less fuel used to lift off. which is prob where 98% of the fuel goes to. and yes i do think there is life out there. although one thing i dont understand is why dont they try to cultivate amospheres on a planet like mars? im not above planting bacteria there to jump start it.
