FS: SPACE SHUTTLE

Why?

The thing is 20 years old now and was based on 20 year old concepts of engineering. Considering that Nasa gets less than 1% of the federal budget I hope that Obama gives them a BIG increase. The last that I saw of the replacement i wasn't nearly as big. The replacement looked more like a "shuttle" to the ISS more than an actual repair delivery exploration vehicle.

If you ask me there will probably be 2 vehicles that NASA will use now. The replacement for shuttling astronauts to and from ISS. and the shuttle will most likely get used for the moon trip. I still don't understand why we are going there and not Mars. Unless the moon is being used as a stepping stone.

ice thats all. or what appears to be ice. if there is water ice then they can take that ice and break it down into fuel for the shuttle and also drinking water. but then they also have the ability to take your piss and turn it into perfectly fine drinking water.

I just think that the time and resources of Nasa are better spent on looking at new horizons. It's not like inhabiting the moon is is actually going to save us. You and I both know a few million years from now the sun will explode basically destroying our entire solar system. If they are going to look at inhabiting other planets then we need to learn as much as we can about the planets in our own solar system so that we have a basic knowledge that we can apply when we go exploring outside of out own solar system. IDK what your opinion is but im sure there is life out there other than us.

but you also have to think about the moon being a better launching platform. it has 1/6 the gravity of earth which equals to a lot less fuel used to lift off. which is prob where 98% of the fuel goes to. and yes i do think there is life out there. although one thing i dont understand is why dont they try to cultivate amospheres on a planet like mars? im not above planting bacteria there to jump start it.
