If its because of a drug dog that you get searched its probably set up, officers have words and or signals to make the dog bark in the way im thinking "false alerting" its not a big secret but not a lot of people think about it.

I was asked by a cop if he could look and see if there was a dead body in my trunk. true stroy.

Yes. I had no drugs and was late for a track weekend at 6:30a.m. My entire car was empty (obviously) and I was not waiting for his fat ass to get a dog out there so I could miss my first session at Road A and tech inspection. I just said NO, I have no drugs and it's just a waste of time to even think about searching for drugs. The tool gave me 67 in a 55. I got it removed.

I was asked one time if I had a bazooka in my truck....because he said I smelled of alcohol (orbit chewing gum) and i could be hiding many weapons behind my bench seat.

every time i have been pulled over and searched i said sure go for it. even tho maybe 2 out of the 30 times i have been pulled over just for looking suspicious or whatever, i have got a ticket for something, no matter how ridiculous it may heave been. i only drink, i don't drink and drive. anyways, every time i have been searched, the cop(s) always sling shit every where. destroy the inside of my car making a mess and just pissed me off. but whatever. im saying no from now on, cause like i said i have nothing to hide, but if you say no in my experience of being in a car with some people that have said no, the cop(s) get suspicious. so your fucked either way. all it takes is probable cause. your word against theirs. Also, cops are dirty as fuck and will plant shit in your car. i witnessed it a few times. two out of the times nothing happened cause my friend caught it with his cell phone camera. the other times i have saw it i was in a group that got pulled over riding thru the mountains looking suspicious..

Always say NO. It is your right, and no warrant = no search (technically). Also, the fact that you said no could end up saving you in court.

I have heard rumors that some cops try to use the fact that you said "no" to be their probable cause, but I hope that isn't true. Usually, though, if a cop wants to search your car bad enough, he will find a reason.

i have said no to a cop. he basically asked me if he could, without even telling me why he pulled me over, and i said no. then he basically beat around the bush for a minute and was like "so did you consent to a search of your vehicle," and i said no.

so he left my car, came back 2 seconds later and told me to get out. I did then he patted me down and told me that he was going to walk his dog around my car and was basically trying to scare me into saying yes to a search. but i knew i had nothing in my car so i said no again.

then he walked his dog around my car twice, the the dog stuck his head into my window and jumped back down. and that was it. after he realized i had nothing in my car he was all nice to me, which i was pissed about. then came to find out all this was because my tag light was out, and he wrote me the ticket. and no joke the officers name was Mr. Weed. lilburn city cop, which is pretty ironic having that name and being a cop.

but they can search your shit if it stinks like reefer, which alot of retards dont understand, but if your legal and done nothing wrong, you can say no to a search and be fine

I was pulled over once because me and my car looked suspicious(WTF?) and after the officer asked for my license and registration he told me to turn the car off and that he would be right back. When he returned he wanted to check the tint on my windows, after that he asked me to step out of the car and asked if I had any drugs on me or in the car. After I told him no I didn’t have anything on me or in the car he said “well I’m gonna need to search your car” and put me in handcuffs and set me in the back of the police cruiser. After about 10-15 min searching he didn’t find anything and let me go, the next day I filed a complaint and was told that the officer did have probable cause because of the area I was in, the car I was driving, my age, sex, and race made me look suspiciously like a known drug dealer.

Just comply because the bottom line is: YOU TIME WILL BE WASTED.

There is NO SUCH thing as Winning in Court in regards to a citation, even if the ticket gets dropped.

Bottom line is, Your time is going to be wasted, especially if you took an unpaid day off.

    I've never been asked yet.

One time me and some friends got pulled over and we were all 15-16 and we had a bunch of pot and a few half-empty liquor bottles in the car. The reason we got pulled over was because my friend had just bought his car and had the temporary plate from the car lot still on.

So when he asked to search the car my friend politely said no. The cop proceeded to question us about where we were going and what we were doing and none of us lost our tempers or anything.

I don't know if the cop got a more important call he had to respond to, or if he decided he didn't want to be late for supper waiting for the drug dog, but he came running back to the car, gave my friend our licenses and the car's registration back, and took off with his blue lights on.

If you are guilty, and you know you're gonna get busted, it may play to your advantage to stall/waste their time as much as you can.

This actually happened to me yesterday.

I got pulled over in my truck for riding with the front up and the back low. The cop came up to my truck and asked to search the truck. I asked him why and he said it was simply for his safety. I told him he could look through the window if he liked but that was all. The cop asked if I had any weapons in the car and I did tell him yes. I had my glock on my hip, and if he liked I would get out of the car and allow him to hold it while I got my concealed carry card out of my wallet. He just asked me to get my card out. He then proceded to tell me that unless I gave him permission to search he was going to give me the ticket for modified suspension and for too little bumper clearance.

At that point I told him no and that if he gave me a ticket I would fight the ticket and sue for coersion for a illegal search. I knew I would win both and so did he because he was being recorded. I still may call the Sheriff's dept and file a complaint, but I was dumb and didnt get his name.

disclaimer: I am a criminal justice student and just finished this class last quarter so I knew the GA rules for a search. I dont reccommend anyone doing what I did because you could end up in a shitty situation.

Props for adding a "moral of the story" portion.

What's real reason for denying the search, what'd you have back there?

I was in a really shitty mood and looking for a fight. I typically let a cop search if he isnt being a dick about it.

One of my friends back in the day was leaving a party and as he was leaving the cops showed up and came up to his car, Gave him a breathalyzer and he was good then they asked to search he said no but they ended up searching anyways and found a quarter pound of weed in the trunk with $2000 in rolled up 100's

to make a long story short he spent a night in jail the cops only wrote 1 ounce on the police report and $500 in cash and he never had a court case....i wonder where all the other money and weed ran off to?

cops will search if they want to.

cops will often "false start" a k-9 unit to gain access to your vehicle, its very easy for them so my advice is just play it cool like you got nothing on you and hope they don't look too hard, otherwise they'll find a way to rip you a new one

Im pretty sure, when you sign, all you are agreeing to is to taking roadside test for drugs, being drunk, and other things like that. Not giving up your rights to let a police officer inside your car.

If that was the case they wouldnt need search warrants to go inside your house.

tdurr is correct. All you are agreeing to is roadside sobriety tests. Those are a form of search, that is why that disclaimer is on your license application. You are not consenting to a search of your vehicle.

I dont believe you. If you said plain and simple , no, to a search and they still searched, you had a rock solid civil rights violation case. Every cop in the Atlanta area has a camera and/or mic on them for every stop. Because of this, a cop is not going to simply ignore the fact that you said no to a search. They all know that they are personably liable for it, not their department of city/county.

I have no clue what a "false start" is but if you mean letting the dog sniff the exterior of the car then that is very much legal. If you have something illegal on you and it is found during a search, what the cops do is not called ripping you a new one, it is called giving you what you have earned.

as many of you know I am blacc.. and I often drive around with the gun and or a bandanna hanging from my rearview... I can not and I repeat CAN NOT refuse a search or the outcome might be something placed in my car or the I Fit the description bit.. My car has been searched before and I got popped with a ticcet.. unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon which was dropped because I was in my pops trucc and it was his Gun under his seat.
