i leave my iphone in my lap while driving ALL the time, and at least once a week, i hop out of the car only to have it clatter to the pavement... thats how i eventually broke my 1st gen iphone, since i did that in my buddy's silverado on 49s
I try to be careful with any phone I own.. Cheap or expensive. I honestly hate having shitty banged up phones.
I see some people with dirty all scratched up phones... I cant do it.

I went thru 3 Iphones sitting them on my lap and hopping out of my jeep or car
I have had the same phone for the past two years. It's been in rain, snow, oil, fell off cars, fallen down stairs, etc. Still NO problems. Cheap phones ftw.
I have a same theory as you, cheap phone FTW. They seem to be stronger, and longer lasting.

Who has ever left their phone under the hood of their car when working on it and then close the hood and drive off??? I did this one day and drove to school, and someone happened to call right when I got out of the car, and I heard it. It started out on top of the shock tower and slid down right behind the air filter.

the lap thing happens on a daily basis for me. or when im not really paying and go to slip it in my pocket, then miss my damn pocket and it hits the ground. now thats a dumbass move. lol
Thats why I don't use expensive ass phones. Nothing more pointless than having a bunch of a features you're never going to use in a delicate ass phone. I have a computer, I don't need an extra one in my pocket wherever I go. But a good camera is a plus.
I've had my current phone for two years, and the one I had before that lasted me two or three as well.
