    Default Do you and your family/friends say "I LOVE YOU" to each other?

    Well My Family, RARELY until recently when I started talking about it

    We're South American, so the family values are STRONG (no cursing out parents or disobeying rules lol). The love is Strong as well but more of an implication, we just never made a big deal about saying "I love you" to one another.

    On the other hand, my wife's family say it all the time but they say it SOOOO much that it seems routine. They definitely without a doubt love each other but they say it so often that it doesn't sound heartfelt.

    I started telling my close friends the same too, not all that often but it's good to let them know I guess. Kinda say it in a joking around manner but you know, it be da way we be feelinz.

    Anybody feel me on this? (not literally you faggts )

    I come from a strong Italian family where it has been ironed into my brain that no matter what family is first. I don't care where I'm at or whom I'm with, I'll never hesitate to tell a family member that I love them. You never know if it will be the last time.

    I understand what you mean. My parents were never like that . Not affectionate at all. Sometimes I come off as being cold towards people.
    There are a few close friends I have and people I care for a lot.....and I make it a point to tell them a appreciate them and love them.

    My parents are not affectionate either but me and my lil bro are pretty close and we do say it every once in a while but we dont' over use it so it loses its meaning

    A lot of folks from brasil do it too, our family we just kinda know. We don't say it to each other, if we do, we are all weirded out by it. It's just weird.

    Does anyone else feel really awkward when their female friends say they love you?

    Several of mine tell me that all the time and normally I wouldn't mind, but they sounds sincere about it at times.

    Yeah i make it a point to tell friends/family i love them... guy or girl.. i don't care... my best friend is in the marines.. i see him almost never.. so when he calls before i get off the phone.. i let him know "love you brother" i can tell when he's around his friends he'll say it back.. but in a hurry it cracks me up!!

    my mom and I say I love you all the time....my brother and my dad not so much but if we say I love you they will say it back. My bestfriend and I always tell each other that we love each other...her 2 yo son also tells me he loves me when I talk to him on the phone or leave their house
