Hang in there buddy, you and Leisa are in my prayers
anything new man?
I don't know you guys personally but it makes me feel terrible to read what is going on. I know what love is, even though I haven't had nearly as much experience as you guys. But the one thing I know, is when you genuinely love someone you don't EVER want to lose them. Even to something inevitable, my heart and prayers go out to you guys, Brett.
Latest update:
As Brett stated, Leisa has been weined off the sedation medicine, yet she's still not responding as the doctors hoped. Brett needs our prayers and support more than ever today and tomm. They would like for her to give some signs of consciousness, but it's not happening right now. They can only keep the breathing tube in, which is in her throat, for so long before they have to take it out due to irritation and possible infections. If it continues, she will have to have a tracheatomy to continue with the breathing aid. This is pretty much standard procedure for someone in her condition. Doctors are trying to stay optimistic, but the next two days are pivotal.
We need everyone to stay focused and help Brett and Leisa. Prayers and support is what is needed.
brett all my thoughts and feelings are being poured out to you big homie...try to keep strong and hold on to the hope that she will make it thru
My wife and I are praying and asking others to pray as well.
She had no movement over night and with her being taken off yesterday off the sedation I really need her to move and show signs of trying to come back, The doctor says if she doesnt in a couple more days that is a huge problem and she will be moved to a facility to get taken care off and still will not know if she will ever wake up.
damn man..i know you are stressing beyond belief right now, but i'm sure she will pull thru brett

Brett I'm sure shes going to pull through buddy. She is still in all our thoughts and prayers. Just keep your head up and have faith.
good god man thats terrible. just pray for her as im sure there are many others who will be, and things will turn out just fine. keep you hopes and prayers up
Brett- you don't know me, we met briefly at Nopi last year. I have known Leisa through the Team Blindside boards for quite some time. We just wanted to let you know that we are praying for Leisa. You family is in our thoughts and prayers. She has a strong presence and she will fight.
Brett, sorry to hear this horrible news. I can't even begin to know what you're experiencing emotionally, mentally, and even physically. I send my well wishes & I'll definitely send my prayers up for her. I know you've heard so many things from so many people trying to give you words of encouragement. Some of them helpful & many of them empty cliches. All I can say other than what I've already stated is, don't lose your faith. I'm sure that's easier said than done, especially in this situation. Just try to remember that what you have faith in is bigger than any situation you may face & this situation is as big as they get. Be strong for Leisa just as she has been strong for you. I pray for the best for both of you.
sorry to hear that...really thought she would have gained consciousness by now, be strong...
Thank you all, I have to keep remebering this is only day #6, and even though the Dr. says if she doesnt wake up in a week thats a set back, But I have heard so many stories of people in Coma's that dont wake up for closer to 10-14 days or more.... Her brain has been through alot and it may take a tad longer than a week. I am trying so hard to stay strong. God its so hard.
Brett. I'm with ya, man. I'm another shoulder to lean on, you know. Later, QD.
My girlfriends mother died in 05 and was in a coma for three weeks before she woke up. Leisa is gonna pull out! She's a fighter!
I wish I knew people who had strokes in the same area of the brain as her, The Pons is the area hers, in which Pons - contains centers for the control of vital processes, including respiration and cardiovascular functions. It also is involved in the coordination of eye movements and balance. That is why she cant wake upQuote:

Brett.. I found this site online..and it has a lot of stories of people who have survived the same type of stroke Leisa had, some people are saying it was 3 weeks for them to come out of the coma.. some even longer.. http://www.strokeboard.net/index.php?showtopic=7940. Im still praying for you guys every night, she WILL get better Brett.. she will. Be strong..
i'll be back man, left you a voicemail.Quote:

Well today we had a first good day since she has been in there. Today is 1 week tonight she had the stroke.... and today she made a few big changes (Atleast to me, even though the doctor didnt seem to impressed which pissed me off)
Today a CT Scan was done, and her swelling has started to go down in her brain. Because of that they clamped off the tube that has been draining her fluid from her brain and her brain has been doing it like a normal brain since 7am this morning.
Her right side since she has arrived there has reacted to pain tests which told us her brain fires to her right side so we knew there was no damage on that side, but today......Her left leg and arm has been now responding to pain, All reflex only, Not Leisa doing it BUT her left side has not shown any movements in her left side since the stroke so to me it shows her brain is starting to repair the damage.
The doctor says he needs her to wake up, and I wish people on here knew a Neouro (sp?) surgeon, etc who can tell me if these new things could be or seem like steps to her waking up. I would think if her brain is letting her left side begin to feel pain that it should begin to let her wake up, But no one will tell me anything.
But guys, PLEASE I BEG YOU, keep up the prayers, They are starting to show they are reaching her. I so hope she wakes up from this. The longer she stays in it, the less a chance it is I know.
You know I'm still praying Brett.
My prayers are still with ya man
I work for one of the biggest heart surgeons around......I will run it by him tomm and see if he by chance is close to one of the local brain surgeons that might know something!!! Still in my thoughts and prayers!! Dont listen to theQuote:

That sounds like major steps to me.. :D
good to hear things are progressing! even though it seems slow its a start! just stay hopefully and stay by her side!! these things just take time so be patient and positive!
i'm estatic hearing of that that doc can kick rocks...come on leisa!!!!!!!!!!!
Good to hear some positive news
PLEASE I BEG YOU ALL, KEEP PRAYING, HARDER THAN EVER BEFORE. Make God get sick of all the prayers and him just say "Enough!! Here, I am giving her back"
Im certainly no doctor but those signs do sound positive to me!
I just dont understand how her brain can now start sending signals to her left arm/leg (Which is so good to see, which means there is a shot she can regain her left side) but why cant it send a signal to wake her up? Thats what scares me
i guess it takes stages brett..i see it as..slow progress is better than none. keep your hopes up, they will come true
just give it time brett, and you will see with all the prayers that she will be fine
Thats awesome news man. We are keeping the prayers going!!
I have worn her wedding ring around my neck so its against my heart since the night it happened, I keep telling her she has to wake up so I can give it back and propose all over again
