To compare one against the other, you need both new models.

The new Maxima is putting out 290HP and it looks sharp to boot. The two cars would do good to compete with each other. However, the Maxima is going for around $32,000 and I've seen one personally at a dealership for $40,000 with full options. The Genesis also cranks out 290HP with the V6 and can be had for less than $30,000. The V8 Genesis cranks out 370HP but will also crank up the sticker price.
