Just saw a guy on TV that was rescued, His story was "My mother is on a oxygen tank, the hospitals were already evacuating and not assisting others till the EMERGENCY patients were cared and protected. They knew the tank would not last more than a few hours and it was estimated atleast 5 hours to get INTO the dome. My mothers wishes were to die peacefully in her own home and be by her deceased husband than to struggle and pass away on the way to safety. I stayed until she passed to know she was not suffering, and escaped through my roof and I am here today."... guess he should of become selfish and no heart for his own mother and just left right? I sure as anything know I would of stayed by my mothers side, and WILL in any situation like that.

i doubt anyone ignored the evacuations, some people were on the news saying they tried to leave and couldn't so they went back to their homes, some again didn't want to leave the important people in their life, not one person thought they were bigger then the hurricane, circumstances beyond their control had them stay....im sure no one woke up sunday morning saying " well hurricane is a commin, guess i'll stick around, lose everything i know and be part of history, sounds fun"

This dude, Paul, died for the US, yes. It was not Bush's fault, not even indirectly. Your friend/ex/boyfriend/fiance/whoever was not forced to sign up for the service by Bush or any of his henchmen. I'm pretty sure that he did it all himself. Therefore, if you really look at it, he has himself to blame, as does any person who joins the AF. They know, going in, what they are going in for and what could possibly happen.

Q, I believe he was Army. Rangers at that. Knowin quite a few of them myself, the Rangers know their chance of coming home standin is rather slim.

umm...my brother in law is in charge of the 75th Ranger Regiment here in Ft Benning, and I'll be the first to tell you that he keeps his main highly trained and highly motivated....they have a very good chance of coming home, they will all tell you that, because they trust the guy next to them, and the guy leading them. Granted, they are placed in alot more dangerous place than normal infantry, but the reason they say Rangers have a short life span, is because the average age of a Ranger is 18-21, Tony is 29, and has been and seen alot of shit, but comes out everytime and so do his men.
now do not be confused with some guys calling themselves "Rangers" when they are in fact not. They might have served with a Ranger unit, and they will get a Ranger combat tab, but that does not make them Rangers. Alot of guys here in town try and pull that card, and alot of them are called out immediatly.
fact is, there is only like 2,500 Rangers total.
