uumm huh?? So you are saying do away with any kind of donation/goodwill/salvation army/feed the hungry/toys for tots. I guess they need to stop being lazy and go get it them selfs

Some people are lazy and "do work the system", also there are people that aren't born with those rich moms and dads to pay for them to go to college and get nice jobs with benefits.

I agree with you 100%. Frankly we don't have enough programs to help the needy. There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer, I just wish we had more of them.

As far as those who don't have everything handed to them...there are also those who work on there own and make it without rich moms and dads that shove a silver spoon in there childs mouth. Not having many advantages in life isn't much of an excuse to me. Bust ass at whatever you do, it'll pay off in the end. Whether it be working at mcdonalds sweeping floors or owning a fortune 500 company. I have sympathy for those who have had a lot of disadvantages in life and I am willing to help in anyway I can, but only if they are willing to work to improve on themselves(IF they can work). I can't stand people that just want a handout and not work for it.

You're kidding right? You must love the idea of poverty in this country. Contrary to popular belief 70% of welfare recipients are off the system within 12 months.

And getting rid of it only results in a 1% loss of the federal budget.. hardly a big difference.

if i myself still in college with no degree but a high school diploma can pick up a job almost anywhere...there is no excuse for a siiiingle person in this country to be jobless or homeless. you cannot argue with that. if someone is disabled that is one thing but a 100% capable person? come on. dont depend on your government to help you live life..do for yourself. a democratic president means my money will go to help someone who half asses life. look at it like this. say your in college and have a 4.0..you need a 3.0 to stay in, and i only have a 2.0. so what is the solution? the schools takes some of your hard earned gpa and throws it on top of mine so i can stay on for the ride..BS

You base everyones situation off of yours? Seriously, I used to come home in high school.. it was just my mother and I, and I remember living off of her disability and welfare checks. Now I take care of my mother in a house I had built at the age of 22, thats not even 6 years later.

So it would by hypocritical for me to down the welfare system when I remember putting food on the table depended on it at one time. NOT EVERYONE STARTS FROM THE SAME STARTING LINE IN THIS COUNTRY. Its the fact that the system gives you a chance to do better for yourself that others may or may not have.

This isn't college, this is real life ****. How much did you pay in taxes this year?

dude you dont have to tell me anything about starting from nothing. my mother in father were still seniors in high school when they had me. we lived in a basement apartment in mt vernon new york and my pops worked his ass off because he would not settle for any type of program like that. and no one in the family helped either. he worked 3 to 4 jobs at a time to support me my mom and then soon after my brother. with no assistance at all. that was in 87. now if a highschool kid can do that why cant anyone everyone else? is my father some hero? hell nah! but he knew he wasnt going to be just another broke dead beat.

the idea of letting someone get by in this world without doing anything to stay on isnt a positive idea in my eyes. it can also demotivate people. but like i said on the first post this is just my lil tow cents.

Then address the system for the leechers but don't do away with the system. Again, how much did you pay in taxes this year?

There are always exceptions yes. There is a good reason why unemployment and welfare exist. I think what he was referring to was the people that abuse the system.

i dont think he was saying that at all. all of those are great organizations that set out to make a difference in the community... they're private entities, not government authorities. its not the goverments job to take ish from those who earn it and give it to those that didnt... then it ceases to be donations
