But I have never had anything but nice things to say about you, including going so far as to say that it was pretty cool that you were willing to keep our personal friendship and a business relationship seperate.
What I DO know is that things have been coming back at me that no one else but you would know, which lets me know that YOU in fact have been saying things about me. I was quite prepared to let this just die down, but since you insist on bringing it up, then I'll bite.
I also know that if you brought a car to any other shop, told them to "pick the color" and then it wasn't what you wanted, that they would more than likely not do anything, not offer anything, in retribution. But because I do think highly of you, we offered you not one but TWO options. Option 1 was we cut you a deep discount on an already discounted price and leave the car the way it was. We would have happily repaired any clearcoat drips/etc had you asked, and as I SAID when you came to pick up the blue car, we would be happy to bring it AND the red car back once our paint booth was up so that we would have a light enough space to work in and could really see well. Option 2 was for you to cover the cost of paint and we would sand down the blue car and re-spray it for you, in a color that you brought us the code for. We left the ball in your court on those, and you haven't said anything back to us.
I also know that we did a LOT of bodywork on both cars, some of which was discussed, some of it which was not. Repairing not one but TWO hoods, swapping/lining up 2 hoods, swapping rear bumpers, repairing hail dings, repairing a window molding, repairing a hole in the metal on the blue car that was showing signs of rust (small hole on A pillar between driver's side window and windshield)... we did a LOT of work. And there were plenty of times where Pat and I actually stopped and said "well, we didn't talk about this", but we went ahead and did it anyway, because we wanted you to be happy. The bodywork alone on the cars was worth MUCH more than the $650 you paid us, which is why I haven't offered you a refund.
And I don't know what you're trying to prove by putting up pictures of my shop. So it's not a huge, awesome building. So our landlord has his business right next to it and he runs a septic tank business. It's a place to work on cars. Nothing more, nothing less. The stenciled paint on the outside is left over from the people who were there before us because we have had other things to do aside from painting the outside. Our landlord just got done cleaning up the outside, and our next step is to worry about the exterior appearance of the building itself.
At the end of it, I have never had a negative thing to say, but I am getting irritated that you are mistaking kindness from me for weakness. I am NOT a pushover, and I'm not a wimp. No, I don't like confrontation, and will do my best to find a conclusion to a problem that makes everyone happy. Sure, I let things slide, like the fact that you insulted my shop the moment you arrived, but I do that because I have bigger fish to fry in this world. But, since you insist on continuing to bring this up, here's where I stand on it. I'm willing to forego the $300 in paint and materials that you basically stiffed us on for the blue car. If you want to make that big a deal about it, fine, keep it. It's yours. However, I am not about to refund you anything, based on the fact that Patrick and I BOTH offered you further services, which you declined, and offered you 2 options on the blue car, which you declined. We left the ball in your court, and you packed it up and went home with it. All of the offers that we made to you DO still stand, if you wish to think them over. But that's your choice.
End of story.
