Watts WAS a bad city. They are converting parts of Watts, Boyle Hieghts, and Pico-Union District (where I'm from) to that whole "it used to be ghetto now lets make lofts" type deal. Lot of change since the 90's in Watts, about 95% Latino these days (what isn't LOL) and crime has gone waaaay down. I have some decent pics of the Towers, along with some bad ass shots of East LA.
