They weren't completely wiped out. My Native American ancestors fought in the American Revolution. In turn, the United States awarded with them land in Worth County (Albany, GA). The land today is now in my dad's name. Passed down generation to generation.

It was an idea put forth by John Winthrop originally, a puritan (pilgrim) who looked at the pilgrims as the "New Isrealities" and America as the new Israel. The idea of manifest destiny was for the pure people, being the puritans, to lead by example and either wipeout or undermine all of the inferior races, one of which being the native americans.
i meant to say with Thanksgiving/Pilgrim/Native American concept.
