I didn't come into the scene until the whole SpeedMonkey vs Project Motor Sports was in it's prime. Ahh the good old days. Ever since the two car clubs split apart BP has turned to sh!t. All the fast cars don't come out anymoreOriginally Posted by JITB

Wow, this thread is a real blast back to 3 years ago![]()
I was expecting some cars that were at least made out of metal, maybe emissions exempt and hopefully qualified for antique tags.![]()
We started out meeting up at Toys-R-Us at the Mall of GA. Used to meet every single Saturday night. And, holy shiit, we had at least 150 cars every time. There was never any fear of drama or fights or any of the crap that drives a lot of us to stay away. Even the police used to park there and get out and hang out for a while. Someone on here has pics of a couple of Buford policemen talking to folks.Originally Posted by Psycho
After a while, Toys-R-Us management, for some reason, got tired of the crowd and let us know that we couldn't come out there anymore. We then went to the Kohl's parking lot off 316 in front of what is now Wal Mart. It wasn't quite as packed, but it was a guaranteed 100 cars per Saturday night. That lasted about 3 months until some jackass trailered out a run-about car and started doing donuts in the parking lot. That and a few unwanteds started showing up.
I then got in touch with a shop on Bufurd Hwy down from Pleasant Hill called Burrell's. We started meeting in his lot. It got packed to the hilt. We even worked on Jeff T.'s car there for a few weekends. Mr. Burrell grilled burgers and hot dogs every Saturday night. At his expense. We had to supply the Cokes. Awesome dude. He soold the shop and we had to move on.
That's when we went a mile or so down Buford Hwy to Hybrid Motorsports. That little lot held more cars than you'd think. That lasted for a few months as well.
A couple of local shops, like (the one Brooks worked for for a minute?) held a monthly meet at their shop, but pretty much after the Hybrid meets broke down, everyone pretty much went their own ways. People started coming to meets with "something to prove" and chips on their shoulders and the regulars said fucc it and moved on.
To my knowledge, that is the history of the (IA) meets from 2000 til around 2003. I say IA in quotes because most of them were NOT actual IA meets but consisted of about 85% members. Later, QD.
Is that an integra with a T top behind the accord?Originally Posted by quickdodgeŽ

Yeah, the cars are awfully ricey. But from what QD was explaining, it sounds like the scene back then was really cool because of the people. Really, in the car scene, the people that own the cars are more important than the cars themselves. Any one can spend all their money to make a nice car, but if they're a total ****, no one will like them.Originally Posted by Ran

It's about friends and community.![]()
thats accually an accord, with a t-top, and an integra front conversion.Originally Posted by Psycho
and i agree, the scene WAS the people, the cars were just what brought the people together
I think next fad will be euro type mods. Wide offset wheels etc.Originally Posted by Ed
