depends on which bone was broken (my wife is a Emergency vet.) she says 3 weeks sounds a lil early for cast removal

im not sure if its shoulder or elbow its the very top of his lef and he has two pins and a screw in it, and from what my mom has looked up on the net it says cast removal usually happens in 1 week, but i think that bs.

my wife says "my experience with most orthopeadic injuries is that a cast is on the same amount as for a human fracture usually about 6 weeks. However, since your dog had surgery to set the joint or bones that were injured, the cast itself was probably just to keep the leg immobile and discourage your dog from trying to walk on it. They probably removed the cast to better monitor the progress of the healing. I would also say that with an injury like that, your dog should probably be cage rested with minimal activity for another 3-5 weeks. You can try some passive exercises by extending and rotating the leg to keep it stretched and moving without a lot of force or tension which will help your dogs leg feel a little better. Now I AM NOT a vet, that has just been what I have seen in my experience in the veterinary field for the past five years. If you are very concerned, I would consult the surgeon that did your dogs surgery and possibly look into taking another x-ray to make sure that the bones/joint set correctly and are healing well, and that the dog is not rejecting the hardware. Out of curiosity, did your regular vet do the surgery or was it an actual surgeon at UGA or a specialty practice?"

no clue my mom handled it all, it doesnt say on the papers, i bought the dog and she pretty much stole him from me, but i still live with her. my stepdad is the one who sold his bike, i was gonna pay for it but i told them when i moved out i was taking him with me and they told me fucc you. on the papers it doesnt even say which bone it was, but it was done at kays vetranarian (sp) hospital and they had a specialist flown in ( i think) to do it.

yea that would be like a 2 and a half hour ride, then if surgery is involved add in hotel costs.
