After a few calls trying to locate a certain novelty ice cream/frozen treat that can't be bought in stores the manufacturer gave out the info of the distributor for your typical neighborhood ice cream trucks.
Sooo, Sunday morning off to Bankhead Hwy it was! After passing the small faded plywood sign a couple times and turning down a well traveled road there it was, between two salvage yards, a light gleaming down from the heaven above concentrated on a small concrete block building with bars on all the windows and doors. A couple ice cream trucks parked outside and upon entering you're greeted by a lovely lady offering assistance. Pondering at the giant ice cream menu covering an entire wall, eyes glazed over, I wipe the drool dripping off my chin...1/2 of this stuff you can only find on an ice cream truck and I can buy it by the CASE here!
Mmmm...2 ball screw balls, tear jerker snow cones, choco tacos, firecrackers, missiles, chocolate eclair bars, push ups, pop ups, chipwich's....it goes on and on. You place your order through the bars and the small hole in the glass, pay for it, then give the order form to the lady who sends it to the walk-in coolers in the back...next thing you know you have a shopping cart with the plain jane cardboard box cases of your favorite ice cream at bulk prices saying take me home and eatttt meeee. I was always curious what the markup was on ice cream trucks and now I know, just don't forget to take a large cooler!![]()
