If you're looking for all out performance than Z06 sure. However, if you're looking for good performance, luxury, a roof that doesn't fly off, and class then RS5.
RS5 might come in at 75-80K which is definitely a lot less than the ZR1's tag of 100K. The new RS series is rumored to have 450ish hp and if the RS5 builds on the S5's good looks, Audi have a definite winner.
admin, have you driven a Vishnu tuned 335? 400+ hp for a grand more than the purchase price of a new car. It might just change your opinion about Bimmers.
lol
LOL that was on the 05's and mainly just the regular TT vettes.Originally Posted by ironchef

edit: Admin, i'm still saying get a mkii GTi and put a 1.8t in it FTW
I agree completely.
While I have never owned one, my Aunt had 2 BMWs and were the worst cars she ever owned.
A girl in my high school with a 5 series had more problems and it was an 01 than my 93 Legend.
My neighbor had an old M3 that didn't run half the time.
I wouldn't ever want a BMW. But then again, I have heard about poor realibility in German cars for the most part, and I'm not too partial to them.
If you are going to go Euro, go Italian.
But some Mercedes just look like pure secks. Not many BMWs that even come close in the looks category.
Ahhh, I can't wait for the BMW penislover sogoodm3 to come in here and talk. If BMW was a person, sogoodm3 would blow him every nigiht.
Until Alfa joins the party in '09 with the uber-sexy but affordable Brera, Spider and MiTo, I don't see how 99.99% of IAers (or 99.99% of the American population for that matter) can buy any Italian car (Ferrari, Maserati, Lambo, Bugatti or Pagani). Fiat's not here so that's outta the picture.Originally Posted by TheGodfather
Meh, Maserati isn't all that expensive. I mean it is, but affordable if you reach. And older Ferraris are reasonably priced for what it is, but I'm just speaking in generalities of the cars, not the likelihood of buying one.Originally Posted by gforce23
You can get 2nd hand Maseratti coupe for a halfway decent price don't know much about getting a ferrari for around 50k but I would love to get a 308 GTBOriginally Posted by TheGodfather

Damn, you're actually right! '05 Maserati Sport coupes are all over fleabay for 50k or less.. I thought Mazzies retained their value like Ferraris.Originally Posted by TheGodfather
Older Ferraris for less than 40k? Yeah, but you'd spend a truck load of money on upkeep. I'd rather buy a modern Maserati than an old-school Ferrari, at least until I can gather the dough to maintain one.
dude, i love BMW.. weve owned 6 BMW never had a problem with any..

not surprised the new ones probably will hold their value well though as they are built by ferrari and alfa romeo.Originally Posted by gforce23

In fact, I just spent the past 30 minutes looking at Mazzies on fleabay. '06 Quattroportes (the classiest sedan IMO) are going for under $60k while '08 GranTurismos are selling 20k under the retail price of 125K. GT coupes are a real bargain though @50k.. enticing indeed.
but how long have they been getting parts from the 360,430 though? Not being a **** honestly don't know. I know in the new one almost the entire drivetrain comes from the 430.Originally Posted by gforce23

I read the first three posts and that's about it. Sounds like your BMW was not so "lightly used" as you thought. My mom now owns a 2003 5 series and has had 0 issues with it. Before that we had 12 years of 3 series that my mom had, passed to my sister, got her through college before it was finally sold of to another family. And other than having to replace the brake booster once, Nothing other than regular maint. was required.
yes...i see a MKV in your future young jedi.Originally Posted by ironchef

Fiat's are funny looking. Most Renualt's are kinda weird. I love the Citroens and Puegot's. Some Opel's are pretty cool. The cars that BMW and Audi have over there that they never sold in the states are really neat. I want a real Euro now.

Ahh yes, thanks for pointing that out. I think I meant Lancia and not Bugatti.Originally Posted by JennB
lol .. you're not alone. The Focus ST220, 635d and Alfa Brera are permanent fixtures on my wishlist. Call me stupid but I think the 635d is the perfect DD, the Brera is the perfect (and affordable) car for a night out on the town and the ST220 just looks so bad ass in orange. A 1-series hatch wouldn't hurt either.Originally Posted by JennB
Lancia's are weird looking in person too.
I really want one of the big Citroens. I believe it's the C5. That's a damn good looking car in person.... though a little big for me to actually drive around.

I can't help but think queery stuff when I hear anything about French cars. Anyhow, the C5's interior looks a bit weird IMO:Originally Posted by JennB
Judging by your comments on Cits and Peus, let me guess - are you in France by any chance? Citroens and Peugeots aren't big sellers in other parts of western Europe.
If you are going to make the argument that Bugatti isn't Italian, than neither is Lamborghini. They are owned by VW as well, unfortunatley.
The only real Italian branch left is Ferrari, and falling under it's umbrella is Maserati, FIAT, and Alfa Romeo.
Sad if you ask me. I hope one day Italians reaquire Lamborghini from the damn Nazis.
I think Jenn was referring to the place of manufacture and not the citizenship of some owners.Originally Posted by TheGodfather
Bugattis are made in France, Lambos are made in Italy. If ownership is the parameter by which current heritage is judged, then SEAT, Skoda and Bentley are all German (when they actually aren't).
Besides, it not as if the Nazis have completely destroyed Lambos.. the interiors are MUCH nicer from Lambos of yore.
