DUCK:My first speeding ticket

So after leaving V meet, im comming up 85N, and im one exit away from my house than from out of no where blue lights come behind me. You guessed it right, it was a cop(and not a ricer with alot of neons). He pulls me over with my 3 passanger, 2 15 year olds, and one 19 year old. He takes my driver licence and my registration and goes to his car. To my surprise he only gives me one ticket for speeding which was 31 over. Now im only 18, i still have my driver D license. I was surprise that he didnt take me to jail right on the spot. I was going 86 on 55mph speed limit. And yes im white so was he. He also gave me alot of tips on how to do this right and not lose my D license.







NOW can someone please tell me how i can work this out with out losing my d license. THe cop told me to play not guilty at court, than next court he would attend and they would reduce my speed. And he also told me to take a defence driving class or some **** like that.

I got out of 3 tickets within 3 months by talking to the DA at the court date and taking a defensive driving class. I got tickets for 19, 25 and 14 over. I was only 16 when I got the first one and 17 when I got the other two. Everyone on here is gonna say plea no lo but use that as last choice. Sounds like the cop is trying to **** you, if he was really going to reduce it why did he not reduce it before he wrote the ticket? You could maybe try calling him, if he wanted to help you out he would say plea guilty and he wouldnt show up. On a happier note I got pulled over the other day for 20 over and had no license on me and didn't get a ticket. :boobies:

Yes, you were infact speeding, sir. Sorry, but going 60 in a 55 is considered speeding.

You're 18 right? Why do you still have class D? Upgrade anyone? Just suck it up, take the DD course, and yada yada.. I have had 7 speeding tickets in 4 years, and my record is clean...i don't know how, but oh well.

They won't throw you in jail for 24+, they take your license away. Take a defensive driving course and tell the driving course place that you are taking it to reduce points on a ticket. Do that before your first court date and then talk to them to see if they will lower the speed so you can keep your license. If they say that they can't do that, then tell the judge that you need more time to get a lawyer.

I got a ticket for 27 over the speed limit in my old S13 a few years back and I got away with only paying the fine - no other punishment at all.

But i always drive 70-80, and never get stoped. This time i got 6 over than my regular and i get stoped. im just glad that im not in jail rite now and than i only got one ticket. I didnt even have seat belt on, i had 2 14 year olds with me, i had D license yada yada

I got the ticket in Dekalb County, i think they will go easy on me. Glad i didnt get the ticket in Gwinet County considering i was like 2 exits away form eneterin the Gwinet county.

dunno if anyone has said it but when you are 18 you have to go renew for your class c. dunno if it would help in court but it will help you drive after midnight.

He means plea Nolo. Which you can't do until you are 21. If you could do it, you would go in, plea nolo, the judge would make you pay the fine and you would have no other punishment.

i used nolo when i was 19, so in douglas county it it legal but i am not sure about all other counties

I did a post here covering how to help you. A lil search on my post can do u good. Many friends used my tips and got out of it, or at least, reduced to under 14mph.

I feel funny driving over 70 mph during my regular driving, let alone driving through Dekalb county. Hate to say it, but you deserved the ticket if you have been living or even passing through Dekalb county and don't know when to slow down. I pass through East Point and as many people a day I see getting pulled over, you will ever find me going anywhere near 60 in that city. More than likely, you will lose your licsense and won't get it back until you turn 21. You may wanna consider hiring a lawyer.

Unless the judge doesnt rescedule, and he throws it out. But by what he told you the cop isnt gonna show up for the first court appearance. If its busy and the judge decides to hear ur plea, it will be dismissed because the cop isnt there.

take a defensive driving class BEFORE the court date and show up with your certificate in-hand. when the judge asks how you plead, plead to reduce the speed. I did exactly that and didn't lose my license (61 in a 35)
