Anyways, to the OP, what distro are you running? Fedora/Ubuntu/???

Yes but Synaptic is a GUI interface. It seems to me that Ubuntu is really trying to be a desktop OS. I have Ubuntu on a partition and it is my first real experience with Linux. I would be inclined to ditch Windows altogether if my games and a few other programs would run on Linux.Originally Posted by Nemesis
Just run Wine, you can run Windows programs with it. As George said, a lot of Linux distros will have you spending a ton of time @ the command line setting things up. I'm lazy and don't do too much stuff with my computer anymore and Windows XP gives me no problems (the PC itself is another matter lol).Originally Posted by chrisdavis

Ah, so few questions now that I am into this now.
A, can people still not see what I post? Someone said in the thread.
B, how would I go about running iTunes with Linux? I know you can get better programs or similiar but I honestly love iTunes and just enjoy the way it works so I want to keep using it. I think I am supposed to run "Wine" is that a visualation? Can I keep it running in one of my desktops?
Thanks

Welcome to Unbuntu! I run it also on my laptop and get nearly an additional hour of battery life over xp pro. I don't think youre going to get itunes running to your satisfaction, try tinkering with playlists on xmms or something.
Linux distros are working toward being a desktop OS, look at how far they've come in the last few years. Even the 1 laptop per child initiative is running linux. While i love linux for my personal usage i will admit its got a little way to go to make it completely user friendly. I wish more hardware companies would back linux as far as making more hardware drivers included, this single handedly would help more than anything. It is aggravating to have to recompile your kernel just to get your wireless working.
