ATTN: BUCKY thread my story
THIS IS NOT JUST A RANDOM THREAD. THIS IS AN EXPLINATION OF ANOTHER THREAD THAT WAS IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!
ok... heres the deal. sh*t was gonna hit the fan eventually with as obsessed i have become with IA and how everyone knows everyone somehow haha.
first... as much as i love you coorscan... this could have been sqaushed privately and not when he first opens the doors to his new business.
but on the other hand... yes my paint is kinda shady.
payed $1,000 (wasnt going to say a price unless bucky or an associate said something but carbon_crash said it so i think its ight to post it)
now bucky has been nothing but the best with me as far as communication and just a generally hella nice guy. now coorscan was going to paint my car before, but said he would have to wait until summer because he doesnt have a heated booth, but i have seen his work and it is very nice. well i got ancy and decided i wanted it painted now... so i posted a thread and bucky replied with all the answers i wanted... 2 base coats, 3 clear coats, full sanding, and jambed for the price i had the money for. and i have seen nothing but good things come from him but in retrospect i have never seen a car.
well i dropped it off with him for a week and he sent me pictures of the progress and kept in touch. well i went back a week later and picked it up and in my moment of excitement i shook the mans hand and left. well i got home and notice a lot of blemishes such as fish eyes, orange peel, dry spray, some spots where old color was coming through, and a couple of runs, but the doors were ****ed, they had dry spray on the corners and on the tips of the fenders. so i PM'd him and let him know that it was kinda rough and i wasnt happy. so he immediately pm'd me back and we got a date set up to bring it back so he could fix whatever i had problems with.
well i went to work the next day and everyone knew i was getting my car painted and so everyone wanted to see it and i couldnt stop them. well everyone had the same reaction of wtf is this. so i explained at least 12389234 times in optimism that i was taking it back and im confident it will look much better... well i work with a few people that are on IA as well and i try and get to meets as much as i can so i knew the word would get out eventually and when people see the job they will have something to say.
well i took it back and left it with him for another week and i pointed out some specific spots that i wanted fixed but not all of them. I'm one of those people that tries to put myself in everyone elses shoes all the time so i couldnt bring myself to point at every little spot because i know all the prep that went into the job. he took apart most everything... took all the weatherstripping off, took the hood off, the trunk off, the headlights came out and the bumper came off and the fog lights were taken out and everything was sanded down and some of the dents were taken care of. and the car is painted black and black is amazingly difficult so i understand that.
well i got the car back the second time and the top looks great and the trunk lid looks great and the doors are better... they are not perfect but they are better. he even took the drivers side door all the way to the metal and started over because he wasnt happy with it, but i have been looking all about the car and the fenders still have dryspray and there are a couple of spots that you can still see the metallic maroon that used to be on the car. now i told bucky that i would handle getting it compound buffed and i have done this yet and i know that that will make quite a bit of difference. so now the car is really not as bad as some may say. to someone who paints cars they may see a job that is not up to good standards but for the average schmoe it does not look that bad. now the main thing is just bad orange peel on the doors and a little dry spray on the fenders still, which bucky has told me numerous times that he will fix. now i have come to the point where i cant afford to leave the car with him for long periods of time when i know time is what is needed for good paint and also to be completely honest, its come to a point where i have to decide if i want to listen to the people that i work with that paint and say that most of the orange peel is bad enough that it really needs to be sanded and re-cleared or pay a little money and get it buffed and see what happens. coorscan and other painters have said there is no fix for what i got and it needs new clear but some have said buff will work. i dont know and if i spend the money on a buff job and it is still bad and i have to get it recleared then i have really wasted a lot of time and money.
SO... bucky has not wronged me. he did a good bit of work and it still needs to be buffed to see what the actual final product is. and even after this recent thread was posted he has talked to me and said he will do whatever he can to make me a happy customer. this is just a mess of drama that really needs to be fixed by me. i know bucky would realistically re-paint my car if i just bought paint and if i really wanted him to. but i dont have the time to drop it off right now to get another week or two worth of work done so i am in a pickle trying to decide if i want to make this man do even more work on my car. is it his fault because he should have done it right the first time or my fault because i havent given him the time and told him what i really think.
this will be solved and i know bucky will do just about anything in his power to make myself happy or anyone else who wants to do business with him.

I have met u and have never had a problem with u untill now.U walk up in here bashing a well known very good at what he does paint artest that did something u really wanted to do and because shi* went wrong u come on the forums and acted like a child and not only broke IA policy rules but trying to break a mans business that feeds his family.Me and alot of other IA members can vouch for the work he has done for us and havent had a problem what so ever and if there was a problem just simply went back to him and got it fixed without bashing his work on IA.
