I just drove from 7pm to 3am to go get the title and tag for my car.
After speeding most the way, I slow down where I KNOW cops always are. I begin to go under the speed limit, but the conversation with my friend at the moment happens to be about the reflectors in the road.
I say they're for if you fall asleep, you hit them and it is supposed to wake you up. Well little do I know, a cop has got behind us because my tail lights are tinted (I JUST bought the car that way) and he sees me swerve but thinks I'm falling asleep or drunk. So he pulls me over, I unbuckle my seat belt for some reason, slip my butterfly knife out of my pocket, realized I unbuckled and buckled back, and got all my stuff (insurance, ID, proof of ownership).
After waiting for about 20 minutes he gives me 2 tickets. One because I didn't know to run my old tag or run without a tag, so I ran my old tag. I'm new at this so I didn't know, but after my $113 ticket for that, I know.
The second ticket is for my tail lights, $73. I explained we were actually coming back from getting the title and I haven't had the car any length of time, but he still gave me the ticket.
I was agree-able the whole time, was very polite, told him I didn't blame him at all for giving me the tickets, etc. He says I should go to court and talk to the judge and tell exactly what happened. He also said he will say I was very cooperative and polite to help me out.
I pay for my own ****, car, gas, insurance, mods, etc. Now I have to pay almost $200 worth of this. But he's gonna try to help me.
Also, any tips?
