    I heard not even with a class III permit can you have one.

    There are a lot of m4 "replicas" out there, but not the real deal. Lots of civilian guns with M4a1 parts

    etc

    m4= full auto /MIL only (i heard)

    class III m16/ar15 = burst auto

    thats how i always thought it was at least. Full auto is a waste anyways but just wanted to know.

    Okay, I need to clear up a few things as there seems to be some confusion. First and foremost, you don't need a "Class III" license unless you are a dealer and you want to buy guns made SINCE 1986. You can only deal those guns made during that time and cannot sell to private citizens. That's a Class III Dealer's license. If you want to buy full auto (pre-1986), you dont' need a license. You only have to pay the $200 transfer tax and fill out the proper paper work.

    It's an M4 "Type" Carbine....not full auto; what I own.

    I can legally buy full auto if I want, however. I just don't feel like paying $15,000+ for a full auto weapon that I'll barely use.
