100k profit, but not working, as a business owner (probably a gas station or two)... lol

So no 9-5's and what not and a decent allotment of free time to travel, do sh!t.

    Sure 100k isn't a lot but that'd seriously take care of most/all my wants/needs.

I'd like to be making close to 100k when I finish up school. Its definitely possible if my company goes as planned but with the economy who knows. When I get older and get married or whatever that will definitely go up. I'd like to make 7 figures a year before I retire though and that would be off salary, investments, etc. Should be possible but once again who knows.

You know you made it when you use your salary to pay off capital gains taxes .

Im a teacher and do ok on 40 a year. Between the wife and I when she gets done in school- I'd say 80 a year would tide us over nicely. Do we want more- hell yeah!

That's why I don't make polls. You'll never get an accurate response. But to question the poll....is this Net or Gross? Later, QD.

I would like 100K+, but until then 70% of that will have to do......

I agree with the others who have stated that if you're struggling with the current salary, you'll also struggle at your target goal. The more you have to spend, the more likely you are to spend and then spend some more on credit!!! I'm living proof and now paying for my consequences. I'll be out of the hole and trying my best not to dig back into it within another year though.

Right now, I make about $1700 a month and I live with my girlfriend and a room mate. My girl is a waitress at a nice restaurant and she's about to graduate Agnes Scott, all of us split stuff three ways. I could make more but I'm happy with my life. Hopefully I can start school next fall since she's graduating.

actually pretty content right now on 40k. it is plenty sufficient. if anything, im fairly careless with my money. but its more than enough to live alone, have a sufficient dd, and go out and eat frequently, do as i please, and have some beer around the house, + 401k/insurance, etc.

however id always be more content with 50k, that is my goal this year..well see what happens.

I'd be VERY happy with a household income of $100K and no more student loans to pay for. We're making it fine right now on a household income of around $70K - I just bought the wings for "zee plane". If we made more money, things wouldn't be AS tight, but like I said, we're getting by without eating Ramen. I do, however, drive the world's largest piece of crap, and will continue to do so until the airplane is finished.

I wouldn't be able to live happily with less than 100k a year after I graduate. Until then, I'm more than happy with my ~20k a year.

I live off commission between real estate and my moms company, so an average month for me without selling any real estate is about 4400bucks after taxes...believe me, its not enough..In the beginning it was but I wasn't saving any money, and on a commission based salary I had a bad month and believe me when you have to take out a loan to pay the bills it really sucks.

The more ya get the more ya spend, and unfortunately its hard to slow down spending once you've started. Atleast for me...I'll be comfortable after I save enough money and buy a house and I'm raking in 150-200k...which is hopefully in the near future. but we'll see.

I have grown up with parents that make much more than 100K and after living with no worries about money all these years I plan on making the same money and am working on that as a full time student right now heading towards my MBA.

yep this is why we need a simplified tax system like the Fair Tax, but the media ignores it and wont support it because the poor people think the rich need to be taxed more.

Tony, this thread will not give you realistic results because most, not all but most people will answer is several different ways.

    1) AIM high since the figure will indirectly state what they DO make (ie: Well, i can't select 50k because that'll show people that i dream of making 50k which means that i make well under 50k) nah mean? - I could be wrong though.

    2) Base it on an unattainable or unrealistic lifestyles

    3) Think of MTV cribs and AIM to the Sky

I'll take 90-100k (To actually answer your question) i'll be comfy then but if i continue bringing in what I brought in last year I'd still be secure.

I think I found the problem:

Poll: How much do you actually make?

    ____ Then the post says

    What kind of salary..
Do you think it would take for you to live the lifestyle you want?

that caused a large scale misunderstanding LOL so i will give the benefit of the doubt to some of the posters.

Kev, I didnt post up the poll, paul (admin) did but its still interesting to see. I was just asking what kind of salary you require to live the lifestyle you want.

Personally.. when I see someone with a Porsche GT3 in the driveway I don't automatically think "damn thats a nice car" but the thought is moreso "damn, why is it taking me so long to get there" Its not just the material things but certain goals I set for myself. I just wondered how common that line of thinking is.

My thinking when I see that is "what are they doing that I'm not" then I get back to reality and realize I'm still in college .
