Tons of personal, airline pilots, ppl sitting in the waiting areas etc, all saw it, some even got recordings of it - it made the news awhile back. The Universe is too big for us to be the only things alive. Technically speaking, bacteria on another planet would be a huge discovery.

As for deep sea oceanography - they're applying that to I think its Titan? The ice moon around Jupiter I think, its outercore is solid ice, but scans show its inner core being hot, meaning theirs liquid somewhere, so there could be life in the liquid zone under the ice
